| I've gone with happy, because for most of my life that's how I've woken up. But being the mother of a young breastfed baby I usually wake up reluctantly to the angry cries of a hungry monster and have no thought of happy or sad, just "Oooooooooh baby, when you gonna start to sleep thru the night...?" |

| Sunlight is a good cure for persistent depression. So is work. Also, love. |
Exercise helps me a lot. It raises my energy levels and lowers my stress levels. |
Forgot to mention that one. Probably because I don't enjoy it much.

You'll think this is freaky at first:

But, watch this. Open your mind to something new. It's better to try something new than it is to feel depressed.
The one I'm recommending is "breath of fire." You can do this in a secular way. Do it for 3 - 5 rounds. It is great in the morning.
He is talking about stress here. But, you can use breath of fire to kill the morning depression. It's very practical. |

| I have been extremely stressed out before I came to Korea, and the stress has gotten worse, so I attribute a lot of my problems to stress. I really have never felt stress in my life before this, and I really cannot wait until I accomplish all that I need to do to feel better. Unfortunately, life is full of stress, so I am learning to deal with it and just think realistically. |

I was walking to work today, and i thought to myself, hmm, I'm fairly happy this morning. As i walked, I investigated my feeling and thought, wait, no, I'm actually a bit sad.
near to my school, i realized that i felt absolutely, completely neutral. I can't ever remember pinning down a feeling like that before. |

I get up near dawn every morning and yet don't work until the afternoons: always happy in the morning, best part of the day.
But I'm a 'morning person'. G'mornin'!
When I travel to a big city like Busan or Seoul I'm always struck by how zombie-like people look walking about in the morning. Maybe I'd be like that if I lived ina concrete jungle and HAD to get out of bed early rather than choose to, every morning. Dunno. There is a general urban malaise regarding that time of day. I see dead people.
For me personally, sadness sometimes comes at night, especially if I'm not asleep by midnight. Music helps, or feeds it. |

| Not a morning person but I still wake up happy. I like my life. I chose it, for the most part, probably with more freedom than most people in the world, particularly women, are generally afforded. I like Korea and I'm here because I want to be. If I wanted to be somewhere else, I'd go there. |

Another intelligent post from Miss Seoul. You're good at the name calling but never seem to have anything intelligent to say. I wonder why that is? |

Well, I've sort of come to hate my job and the disorganisation of my school, and not even stories about true hagwon hell can stop me feeling beat. Add to that constant headbutts against the language barrier and general living, and I guess I wake up sad fairly frequently. I just don't feel enough control in my life at the moment, can't act in Korea the way I would back home.
The problem is, there's nothing to return 'home' for, so I'm stuck here until I make some changes happen or lay out some plans for where to go next.
Hmm, solutions? Gym, Korean lessons, friends... job really bites out most of the time though... ehh, what can you do? |
