I can't understand why the Bears consistently stand by this guy. He sucks. In a preseason game today he had 3 fumbles and threw one pick. In the ESPN article about the game:
Quote: |
Afterward, Grossman blamed the fumbled snaps on everything from the crowd noise to sweaty hands. He didn't even try to explain the other fumble, which Robert Mathis swatted away as he sacked Grossman who finished 9-of-11 for 59 yards and with a sub-par passer rating of 51.1. |
I know this is preseason, I am not a Bears fan (although I root for Bernard Berrian as we went to the same college and I used to watch him play), but damn, don't the Bears want to win??

Well it is a tough decision for Lovie Smith. Chicago has a great D, but defenses generally don't last as long as good offenses(generally) or are as consistent from year to year.
So they realy have a shortish window to win it all, or at least win it all with the current fantastic D. Grossman has the most upside and is probably the best QB the Bears have. They can't afford to draft a rookie(kevin kolb might have been the pick this year) as they have to win soon(whilst the D is good) and this would hurt Grossman's confidence(which judging from the mollycoddling the Bears coaching staff give him, he lacks).
So they are left with the choice of signing a free agent QB..who? Starting Griese..I'm not sure, or sticking it out with Grossman and hope he gets it.
It's a tough spot for Lovie Smith, but I'd say he's hoping Grossman progresses enough not to throw away games and hope the D and run game brings them to the superbowl again.
Grossman just cannot check down to a reciever, throws horrible timing balls and mis reads coverages. He can throw a beauty of a deep ball. Kind of like the anti Chad Pennington if you will. the problem is in the NFL, he is probably good enough to be a starter. There aren't alot of good QBs. |

I think if you want a guy to 'not lose games for you' they should go with the veteran Griese. However, there IS a reason Griese has been bounced around the league. Maybe they should have went after Trent Green. They have the defense to make it back to the Super Bowl and with Green at the helm, he could have guided a pretty talented offense better than Grossman. Trent Dilfer was able to not lose the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory, Grossman just consistently makes poor decisions. He must look like a Pro Bowler in practice the way his team sticks behind him, or his team is totally professional and not airing their stuff to the media. |

Jackson completed 55% of passes in Division 1-AA. I find it hard to be optimistic about him. Packers might be good this year though. Good D and Favre no matter all his problems would start for every team in that division. That says more about Chicago, Minny and Detroit than Favre though. |

Brad childress can make any Quarterback into a star....the mans a genius. Unfortunate for Mr. Ryan Leaf, he wasnt with the Chargers a decade ago.
And Farve who. The best thing he has ever done is his career is cameo on that Mary movie. He's IS a joke. Rodgers will be the starter by game four. Go Viks |

Well thats kind of the point. Favre is past it but he is still the best QB in that division.
Leaf like Jackson completed a low % at albeit at a higher level than Jackson. Lets have a friendly bet on who wins more games, Green Bay or Minny?
I say Green Bay. |

Who is Kitna's Offensive co-ordinator again? I heard he might have a future in this league..
When your D is as bad as Detroits you pass the ball alot. GB's D should be pretty good this year. |
