Why the hell would someone from the Phillipines look for work in the middle east? Most of those countries aren't much better than the Phillipines, when it comes to the living conditions and pay of the general populace. |
Generally its the oil-wealthy part of the Middle East - Saudia Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, etc.
A lot of $$$ to be made there. |

Or maybe he's hoping for a Fillipina. |
So he can slap her around? |
Ugh, I have a Fillipina neighbor who sneaks over to talk to the other foreigners when her husband's away. She's always nervous, ocassionally appears bruised, and has confided in me that "my husband doesn't let me have friends, and gets angry at me when I say hi to people on the street... but he's getting a little better." |
Are there organizations that deal with this sort of thing that we can refer people to when we run across domestic abuse? |

yes, there are hotlines and institutions for foreign wives to report abuse, get help, etc... in Korea.
Also if a Korean man is responsible for the divorce, the foreign bride is allowed to stay in Korea, and gets welfare as well.
foreign bride hotlines also provide health, legal and medical services as well. |

Who says there isn't?
How about http://www.wmigrant.org/soge/soge_e.php or http://www.e-ju.net/ for example? |

I have a Philippines friend who is working (slave labour in Saudia Arabia) - so he can send money home to his wife (in the philippines) - to be able to afford to send his two kids to good schools.....
obviously - making money in the Philippines is not that easy.... |

How would you (or they) define "responsible for the divorce"? |

im assuming if the divorce is because of the husband. i.e. the wife files for divorce, and blames the husband. the hotline would tell her how to document evidence etc... and make a case.
dunno much about divorce law in korea tho. none of my relatives are divorced or married to a foreigner. |

That guy is good looking and might be interesting. Nice and pleasent, surely.
But you all write as though they are all predators with the intention of smashing your head in and stealing all your money.
Jason, the American 'writer' wannabe intellectual who claims to be cute, is probably the most likely to beat you up, or at least get quite cranky for your watching BBC rather than CNN, and criticising his novel.
Seem like pretty innocuous guys to me, not like some of the odd-balls who advertise themselves at home. |

I agree 100%. As we all know there are no married white couples in korea. |
