Well, Koreans are always boasting about being "etnically pure", so I thought that could be an explanation for the comparatively high rate of extended second toes here, as I think everyone knows that science has proven that "ethnic purity" is not too healthy over time.

Do you have any better ideas?

koreans make many ridiculous claims. if you don't believe them, then maybe you're not as dumb as you seem. but then again, your only 'explanation' for long second toes is inbreeding. does inbreeding explain all genetic anomalies? all race-related genetic traits? other than race itself, most can be explained or at least found somewhere in one's dna. but i'm not a scientist so i'm not going to make huge dumbass assumptions (breaking the spirit of the thread--sorry)

If you hand is bigger than your face, it means you're gay.

A gullible person will test this theory with their own hand. You quickly hit the back of their hand so they smack themselves in the nose.

Just a bit of fun, no science to the theory, the result is someone stupid gets hit in the face, like you deserve for making this thread.

I missed the inch bigger toe claim.

Right son, I'm calling you out on this one either cough up a photo of this inch longer toe or admit that you are spouting more crap than a prolapsed rectum.

If she had an inch longer toe how would she get shoes to fit? Do they have extra bits.

Utter toss. Pure toss.

My Korean g/f calls it "Samurai foot" if your second toe is NOT bigger than big toe. Haven't heard her use Egyptian or Greek regarding toes.

What does it mean if you have webbed toes? A good % of Slavic people have their second and third toe attached more or less. Inbreeding slavs?

I did my own little "exam" on the bus today - I did not FIND ONE PERSON who had abnormal feet. Int fact, I was surprised by how uniform they all were (ok, all girls except for one boy and only in Seoul so many not the largest sample).

You claim that there is a "comparatively high rate of extended second toes here", I have to ask, where the heck do you get that from? Are there any studies that show 80% of Koreans have this??

The OP smacks of ignorance and borderline racism.

Your defense of it reeks of absurdity.

There is an urban legend that says if the second toe of the wife is longer than her big toe, she will be the dominant one in the relationship Laughing

My second toe is a little longer than my big toe. My entire family is German. My grandparents on both side of the family were either born in Germany, or their parents were. Must be all that German inbreeding. We are the master race!

(I'm surprised nobody has brought up the "stubby thumbs" thing yet.)

mrsquirrel, the TWO extended second toes that I have seen which are around an inch longer than the big toe did not fit in the shoes the people in question were wearing. They protruded seemingly uncomfortably from the (open toed) shoes.

So many have a second toe that is longer than the big toe. I have seen quite a few really extreme examples where the second toe extends nearly an inch beyond the big toe and other toes.

Some studies done in England point to evidence that people with Celtic ancestry (Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Manx, Breton, etc.) have longer second toes. I've read that the longer second toe is due to Celtic tribes being Hunter-gatherers for longer than most other tribes of Anglo Saxon origin, which due to switching to farming lost the need for the gripping longer second toe.

I also saw this on the net:

'Do you have Celtic or Saxon Feet?: Long ago, the Germanic tribes of Angles and Saxons invaded Britain and left quite a legacy. Their language evolved into our modern English, their laws formed the basis of
English Common Law, and their feet, it is now thought, formed the basis of modern Englishmen. According to the experts, traditional feet tend to be broad and somewhat pointed. Look and see if your toes form a steep angle from the first to the fifth toe. If they do, that is an English foot. Celtic feet, those from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and Brittany, tend to have a second toe longer than all the others. This is known as the Scottish toe. The differences in feet might account for bunions on the Celtic-shaped feet, as English shoes are modeled on the English foot and the wearing of ill-fitting shoes causes bunions. Archeologists have now discovered that they can tell the difference between skeletal remains found in a six-century cemetery. Not only were the Saxons buried with the distinctive jewelry, their feet were
shaped like the modern English foot. They found a distinctive feature in the cuboid bone. It is slightly scrunched on one side of the Saxon foot but more square in Celts.'

That would explain me bunions, growing up Welsh-Irish while clad in England's Clarks' shoes.
