SK Telecom just told me to sign a contract I have to give a deposit of 200,000 because I'm on an E2 visa.

Anyone know a way around this? My girlfriend offered to let me sign up under her name instead, but I'd rather do it under mine if I can (but without that deposit). Are there any potential risks in signing up under someone else's name?

Go to LG I did it with my bankbook, ARC Card, Passport and no deposit. They also had an english speaking worker and it was done in under an hour.

LG rocks!

No, not really. Less than if it was signed in your name actually, because if you miss out on payments they don't go after you, they go after them and it affects their credit--not yours. However, the reason many Koreans are so eager to sign foreigners on is because if you do pay your bills on time, then it builds their credit.

I'm under my director's name. It makes things easy, she breaks down the bill for me every month, I pay and that's that. If I want to make a change I just tell her.

Nice to have a cell phone bill thats under $50 for once in my life.

I second this. I told SK to go and f#ck themselves.
