What's your biggest gripe about TV here in Korea?

EDIT: I guess this would have fit in the "general forum."

Don't watch it so I wouldn't know.

Since I found out that I don't get BBC World I have only turned it onto play games.

Thanks to the internet I don't have to watch Korean TV.

But when I watch with my wife (I know, I don't want to, but I have to pretend to be interested in what she likes) it's the same tired old crew of 'comedians' acting goofy and princessy girls acting dumb and putting back gender equality by years every time they open their mouths.

Yeah, the same bloody movies over & over. When I left here 2 1/2 years ago, one stn. was showing "Shawshank Redemption" at least 5 times a month. I come back and one of the first movies that are on is...take a guess.

That said, ocassionally they have a decent movie on where, invariably, I think "Hey! Isn't that so & so actor who was in [name of movie/TV show]?"

Well, I can forget about finding out because they cut right to a screaming commercial without showing the credits.

Korean cable moving things like CNN to a premium level. Korean cable ditching things like AFN and even Arirang.

Oh, they show CSI Miami over here too. I've also noticed that Miami CSI seems to be filmed in "vivid" rather than "natural" color mode. Looks artificial. Caruso is terrible. The sunglasses thing is funny, but some of his phrases are even worse. "OK, Here's what I need you to do..." "Can you do that for me?"

I'm going with the comedy shows.

I met one of the actors one night a few weeks ago at a bar in Itaewon. I felt sorry for him. The guy couldn't act normal for five seconds- he had to draw attention to himself by doing some 'wacky' face or sudden movement. His girlfriend was even worse- she talked for maybe two hours about how she was going to become a famous actor- "I will success", apparently. She was going to attend a dance/drama school in NY. I made the mistake of asking her if she could sing. She launched into an ear-splitting version of 'Zombie' by the Cranberries. After I'd humoured her all night, she had the cheek to text-message my friend (who had barely suffered her and spoken maybe ten words to her) the next day and say how great it was to meet him. Didn't text me! I think she lost respect for me because I appeared to buy into her bullsh*t. They gave me a free ticket to go to Yeuido to watch rehearsals, but I think I would get more comic value out of watching pizza delivery boys zip up and down the street on mopeds.
