This is a legal disc (with jacket) of Vista OS Business Edition. You needn't buy any other edition because StarOffice and OpenOffice offer free word processor, spreadsheet packages which are the same as MS OFFICE
I've used Vista for 3 months and it is FAR superior to XP. It is a much smaller size OS and takes 4 to 5 minutes to install
best offer gets it
** keep in mind you'll need a somewhat newer computer (purchased after 2005) for vista to work. You'll also need a DVD drive |

Dang, that's one fast installation you got there! Does it really take only 4 to 5 minutes to install the whole thing? Vista being smaller in size than XP and "FAR superior to XP" as well. Wow! I wish I could agree with any of your points. Furthermore, I'm not sure if you can legally sell your already used copy of the OS. |

XP is a huge program. VISTA is considerably smaller and installs extremely quick. I installed it on my macbook. It is far superior to XP in everyway. Anyone hanging on to XP does so because Vista is too expensive. Vista is the best Microsoft OS ever made. |

If it's retail, and if it's not still running on another computer, I think he can sell it.

"Vista is the best Microsoft OS ever made."
Are you working for Microsoft? Vista happens to be a huge failure. Drivers are buggy/inexistent. Add to that Vista requires a MINIMUM of 2GB RAM to be useful. I presume that you also have Aero in that license and that requires a decent GPU/graphics card. Heck Linux with Beryl does a better job @ a fancy interface than Aero and that too with far less resources. Everyone in my office who bought a laptop with vista pre-installed has infact downgraded to XP. As far as I know XP is much better to use tha Vista and XP cannot be replaced with a substandard, half baked buggy OS like Vista. Also the stupid Digital Restrictions Management aka DRM checks on Vista make life a living hell.
On the other hand if you are saying that just to get rid of your Vista license, I can understand. I will not say anymore. |

I wish you all the best in finding a buying, but I have to disagree with the above. |

I think you've gotten the two mixed up here. XP Pro needs like 1.5GB of HDD speace. VISTA needs about 15GB of free space.
This simple oversight makes me doubt your entire post. I think I'll pass. My condolences to anyone who falls for your attempted sale here, they're getting the shaft if they buy into your false information.

There are so many fundamental problems with this post, I've lost count.
There is no way on God's green earth that Vista can be installed on a hard drive in 4-5 minutes, not even in Seattle. I'm not even sure a DVD drive could read the disk that fast. My copy of Vista Pro, or whatever flavor it is, that came with my new laptop takes up more than one DVD. My copy of XP that came with my old laptop took up 3 CDs. Installing Vista takes more than an hour on my laptop. It is probably faster on a desktop. That is irrelevant - but it is not a SMALL program. It is a BLOATED program because of all of the graphics bells and whistles.
As to booting a hard drive, if that's what you are talking about, 3-4 minutes is nothing to brag about. And Vista eliminated the hibernate function that greatly speeded booting, as well as maintaining the state of all your current work. However, the help index for Vista does refer to "hibernate," but they apparently dropped it because they ran out of time. There's a lot of functions in Vista that are missing or do not work because it is essentially a beta version that was shoved out to stores.
As I have mentioned, I have both XP and Vista, and I prefer XP. Vista makes even the most basic acts laborious, with the screen momentarily going black and it asking if you really, really, really want to do something.
Another irritant is that Vista dropped the visual indicator for the defrag function, so it is impossible to know what is going on. Even shareware defrags are better.
But Vista does have some nice improvements, of course. I hope they fix it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I think they are going to hold a lot of the corrections for a Vista SE, rather than a SP.
I would not go out of my way to upgrade XP to Vista. But if you needed an OS for a new blank system, I would probably go with Vista. In the long run, that's what software is going to be designed for. The trouble is the hardware that Vista is designed to use is not actually on the market yet.
I would say about 3/4ths of the software I use on my XP would not work on Vista. This is very annoying. That's one reason I am still using my XP most of the time.
Vista is supposed to have a special program to help you install older programs (i.e., six months old) on your Vista system. But it will let you try to install stuff, and then stop in the middle of the install, badly mucking up your system.
I have used just about every OS, from DOS 3.1, Windows 3.1, Windows 98 FE and SE, Windows 2000, XP and Vista. And Vista is the buggiest, most annoying OS I have seen from Microsoft.
As to:

I've used Vista for 3 months
|
I hope you all realize the Vista OS serial number is not transferable.
BTW, my Windows system folder currently stands at exactly 8.0 GB. Given that I have a 120 GB hard drive, I guess that could be considered small. But it would be rather large on the 20 GB drive that came with my XP laptop. Vista Business would probably be bigger. Is there any reason a home user would need the Business flavor?
And Vista is downright gargantuan compared to DOS 3.3 on my double floppy laptop, which, in case anyone is interested, worked just fine with Microsoft Works in the other floppy drive for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and even posting via modem to message boards like AOL, the predecessors to the Internet. However, I will concede the laptop would have been a lot nicer with a 20 MB hard drive. But the double floppy version was $1,500 new discounted, and the 20 MB version was more like $2,000 or $2,500, I believe.
Do you ever get the feeling they keep looking for excuses to sell us fancier programs to sell us fancier operating systems to sell us fancier hardware to sell us fancier operating systems to sell us fancier programs to sell us fancier hardware to sell us fancier programs? |

Please read the EULA, you may not resell this software once installed. Snake-oil salesman Billybob Gates thought of everything this time around!
Good luck. |

Snake-oil saleman Remort is also trying some dodgy deals of his own.

Dumb question, but how does Microsoft know that you uninstalled the OS? And how does the buyer know that you uninstalled the OS?
And while I am venting, I sure wish Vista displayed thumbnails of photos in a folder like it is supposed to, and which XP does quite hassle-free. All I get are useless icons, with the option of five sizes.
The BEST, the BEST, the BEST. Sounds like a Manhattan cheapo electronics store salesman.
And why, if Vista is fantastic, is the OP selling it?

From what I hear, you'll need more than that.

What planet is this poster from?

I will make one concession to the OP. Compared to a Mac, Vista is not bad. I have used recent Macs, and they are crap. |
