I'm following a serial killer storyline on the internet at the moment (it's being screened on a New Zealand soap opera) and the producer of the show has this to say:
"One of the interesting facts we uncovered in our research is that the medical profession is massively over-represented among the ranks of serial killers. There is a long list of nurses who have killed patients, either under the guise of "mercy killing" or because of a psychological condition known as Munchausen's by proxy (in which they derive excitement from medical procedures). Harold Shipman (aka Dr Death) is thought to have killed up to 200 of his patients over several decades. And, of course, one theory has it that Jack The Ripper was Sir William Gull, who was Queen Victoria's surgeon."
So I guess the medical profession is the answer to your question. |
