Currently KJ Choi is leading in a Major PGA Tournament, and he is not shown in as many highlights as other players in ESPN.

the male commentators seem to try to brush his name off as quickly as possible, and the female commentators seem to try to mention his name as any normal 1st place contendor would be mentioned.

Why is this? Does anyone have any theories?

Maybe it's because he's Korean. You know just as well as everyone else that non-Korean males around the world are part of a large conglomerate. They meet regularly in Vienna to discuss the best ways to keep Korean men down. It's all out of envy, though, because around the world (except in Korea) women pine openly about their desire to have a Korean man.

well i know this is futile, and this following post applies:

Quote:
Yet again, a positive post about the issue has instead been turned around by a number of blokes into a general *beep*: Western women=bad, Korean men=bad, Korean women=good, Western men=knights in shining armour.

Yuck.

but let me try my best.

Korean women have the highest rate of quitting work after getting married in the entire world. Its a common request that Korean women I meet that they expect to have a husband who is financially stable enough so that they can stay at home and not work.

actually, at the risk of sounding big-headed, a lot of women do say this. I think part of it is because of the Korean hallyu wave, a lot of women think that Korean men all look like Korean actors and act like them as well. Like most forms of popular media, its not always true.

With this statement you obviously know nothing about sports. Why is Choi not being hoisted by ESPN, why should he? This is not a 'Korean' thing, not a knock against Choi, but if he can win a major PGA tournament than he will get more respect. Besides, he does get props as he has been doing well this year.

http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=2990153

Another reason is golf is not the most talked about sport the week before college football kicks off and two weeks before the NFL kicks off. Another reason is he is not Tiger Woods. The ONLY time golf should be mentioned in my opinion is if Tiger Woods is playing (which he is not and is why Choi is leading). I guess you need some Thai or Chinese in you if you want to be the shiznit at golf, well that's what is flowing through Tiger's veins anyway.

JAD it is sad that you have been racking your brain for another "the world hates Korea and the western world is trying so hard to bring Koreans down" and the best you came up with is KJ Choi and golf. Laughing

I NEVER said anything about a conspiracy against foreigners in Korea. I am happy here with my fiancee, so don't pull that card on me.

Care to post anything intelligent about my response to your thread topic?

That's a good thing?

"Hey... I realize that you have a university degree and ambitions, but you're mine now. You're gonna stay home all day and cook, clean, look after the children and be a homebody while me and the boys go out for soju and hookers. You're gonna be 100% dependent on me, so that way you can never divorce unless you want to drag your broke ass home to mommy and daddy and be shamed forever. Then, you won't even get to keep the kids because I'm the man!"

That's a great measurement of Korean women's happiness, indeed.

A silly statement like that leads me to think that the difference in frequency of mentions between male and female commentators is also all in your head.

When Tiger Woods is playing, the coverage of that weekend's tourney is wall-to-wall. When Tiger takes time off to count his money, the coverage is not wuite the same.
