I'd like to create a website to act as an interface between a school here in Korea and a school in America.

I'd like the teachers/students from both schools to be able to upload videos/podcasts/photos and make comments. Is there an online service that facilitates this type of activity or will I have to program it myself 'out of the box'?

Any help/examples/experience appreciated.

I"m glad you asked that question. So much out there but I'd go with NING, a social networking site. As a creator, you could along with the other school, moderate and keep it private. Lots of other cool options including the necessary ability of the students to personalize their own page and upload pics/videos.

For an example, see my EFL community site below. But I have also used this with students and it works fine. Even can link to outside blog posts and Facebook, so they are seamless. One caveat is with registering. I"d register everyone NOT by invite. Give the students an email address from a generic gmail account. Meaning [email protected]+1 etc...... Then they already are registered, all with the same password also. Then you announce and they log in and make their pages etc....

This avoids so many bounced emails from Korean addresses. Believe me, the best way.

Good luck and congrats about thinking how you can widen the classroom and use technology to such good ends.

Ning would be much better with students than a dry wiki.

Thanks ddeubal, I'll check out Nning in more detail later. I had a look at your page on nning and it's not immediately apparent how the students were involved with its content. Did you upload any of your own classroom created videos to Nning or do they all link to YouTube and other sites?
