Anyone hear about this? I'd like to know if it's unfounded rumor from my coworkers or if there's a reason to stay away... not that I go there more often than every few months, but still... |

My wife saw it on the news yesterday. The girls were withdrawing money from an ATM when they were grabbed, murdered and their bodies were found in the Han river in two seperate locations. The word is that it was two Kyopos/Gyopos that were trying to hit on them inside a bar the girls were at before they withdrew the cash. The gyopos were reportedly from California. |

I've heard from many people who have spent time in Hongdae that they have awakened the following afternoon feeling at least half dead.
Just a warning. |

Hongdae is becoming more and more thuggish. This is not a surprising trend. |

Wondering why the gyopos tried to dump the bodies in two seperate locations. My wife said that some of this was caught on CCTV, and the police are looking for the suspects. |

I checked the news but I couldn't read anywhere about them being Californian Gyopos. Where is 'the word' coming from? Seriously, it can be an important thing. Some witnesses the police isn't aware of? The investigation seems to be focused on the victims' acquaintances. One suspect was caught on CCTV using an ATM with one of the victims' card but his face was well-covered by his cap. |

I'm going to have to agree with doggy here. The gyopo part sounds like the classic "blame the foreigners" syndrome. Where is this gyopo information coming from? Rumors? Remember all the rumors after VT? Just cause the word on the streets is that they were gyopos doesn't come close to making it remotely true. |
