I am sure some guys must have Western women as friends. How about a post that says nice things, eh? I had the pleasure to work with a Western female co-worker. She was funny, a great joy, liked the way she danced, we enjoyed drinking together. What a great girl. Then there is my other friend who is always available to chat, maybe because I am always available for her if she's in trouble or needs something (I am definitely not after her, she knows that), then there is the friend in Daejeon who has an ear when I need one. Then there was that awesome navy girl (if that counts) she was just great with her smile, fun to sit down with on top of the terrasse and also have a glass of wine with... I didn't mention any I dated, because that would be personal. I can say there are nice ones to date. Not plenty of them all over the place, but there are nice ones. Anyway, women here, just like the men, are just people.

Anyone have anything nice to say besides the whining?

Well, yea, alot of Western women here are real stunners. No doubt.

I like the intelligent conversations that can be had, without the dittziness and "hm, well, gee, I don't know"*giggles*. Not afraid to defend a point, take an issue. That's attractive.

I don't need a ditzy, silly, overly cutsy girl to bolster my masculinity.

But it does appear that you need to boast about it on a messageboard.

Was that a boast? More like a juxtaposition to the personality traits I noted earlier.

If I needed to boast my masculinity, I could easily size myself up to a winner like you, but I won't.

Wow, tough crowd. Make a harmless joke, and then have the guy pretty much do what I jokingly accused him of in his reply.

What a world, huh?

Not really. My point was that timidity and cutsiness are gendered constructs that often, but not always, serve to complement what a guy may subconsciously want from a girl or a girl may think a guy subconsciously wants.

Women are not necessarily naturally like this in the same way that men are not necessarily gruntish or brutish. Often their roles complement one another. Hence the reason why I brought masculinity into it.

I suppose that's like saying that good wine is good wine and females that you like are like good wines to savour whether they be Korean or Western. I like the title of the Al Pacino movie "Scent of a woman". I like it when a woman smells good, there is something about that. Of course, that is off topic, but a Western woman would have thinking you're used to and even smell familiar just like certain things back home. But some people don't care about that. I like to appreciate the familiar, not scorn it:)

I've got this song stuck in my head called "This magic moment" by Roy Orbison... I don't know what that thread has to do with it popping into my head... maybe the talk of wine (yum) and women...So you need a song with that... Any songs you can think of that go with women and wine?

The Western women in Korea are getting prettier every year. I remember back when I FIRST came to Korea in the mid-1990s that by and large, most of them were either fat, ugly or both. But I'd say that was because so few of them came to Korea at all. Now, there are quite a number of hotties.

Came to Korea 5 years ago, met a beautiful Canadian girl, fell in love, got married. There are lots of good looking, intelligent, fun loving western women here in Korea.

Positives about Western women?

Much easier to have a conversation with.

You are treated like a celebrity whenever you go out on a date with one.

They wear much sexier underwear.

Less room for attachment.

They are very brave to come to a place like Korea alone.
