Had a question for anyone who can help me on this.
I've lost my ARC, but with 5 days left in the country, I don't have time to replace it. My question is how much is the fee at the airport for not being able to present the ARC, and is there anything I need to do to prepare for that? Should I report the lost card somehow (to the police or immigration) or just leave it be and pay the fee when I get there? Any suggestions?
Thanks,

10,000 won and 60 minutes to replace it at your local immigration office.
100,000 won fine and a 60 minute delay for not turning it in at the airport. |

Wrong. It takes one week to ten days to get a new one (at least it does at MokDong Immigration). I told you this before. |

I got my replacement in less than an hour at the Suwon immigration office.
This was on Saturday morning, too. You just have to be somewhat persistent about getting it right away and they'll do it. |

Plus I'm pretty sure if you tell them you're leaving in 5 days and don't want problems at the airport, they'll rush it for you.
Go get a new one. it'll be the lesser of two headaches.

and potentially an even shorter wait if you live in a small province (such as gangwon-do). |

Sorry ... But you are wrong in applying the new card timeframe to getting a replacement ARC .... It does take less time to get a replacement card than it does to get a new card ... I have heard a number of times that the replacement card can be produced while you wait ... So the 60 minute estimate is quite right for the replacement card ... Just as the several days to a week is for a new ARC ... Two different situations with different time frames ...

I live in Suwon, if anyone has any experience with that immigration office. It's an option provided I can find time, but I'm working all week. What dod I need for that, a photo and passport? Also, does anyone know why it takes 60 minutes at the airport? What are they doing?
Thanks for the help so far!

All you need to get your replacement is your passport, an application and 10,000 won. They just print off a duplicate, laminate it and hand it to you.
My replacement card took 20 minutes at the Suwon immigration office.
My wife got her replacement card in 20 minutes at the Mokdong office in Seoul.
The 60 minute delay at the airport is for processing your offense and collecting the fine.

You're both right. I've been to the same office (Suwon) to get my ARC card replaced, and been told either "come back tomorrow" or "come back in 10 days." It depends on their workload, their mood, the phase of the moon and what house Jupiter is in. |

I was in a similar situation and went to the Seoul (Mokdong) office. Just tell them the truth. You lost your card and that you are leaving soon and they most likely will make it for you faster. Not a problem |
