The first Doctor - William Hartnell:
The second Doctor - Patrick Troughton:
The third Doctor - Jon Pertwee:
The fourth Doctor - Tom Baker:
The fifth Doctor -Peter Davidson:
The sixth Doctor - Colin Baker:
The seventh Doctor - Sylvester McCoy:
The eighth Doctor - Paul McGann (from the US TV movie):
The ninth Doctor - Christopher Eccleston:
The tenth and current Doctor - David Tennant
Not a lot of people realise it, but Peter Cushing also played the Doctor in a 1965 film:
There were not enough poll options to include Cushing however. |

I have to say Jon Pertwee, because he was the Doctor who got me hooked. My first story was Carnival of Monsters. |

Tom Baker!!
He's a great theatrical actor, purposefully hammy, and barking mad!! That makes for a great Dr. Who. |

Tom Baker is the man. However, I'm rather taking to this Tennant fellow. He's a bloody good choice. I also rather liked Jon Pertwee, though they rarely seem to show any of his reruns.
Not only was Tom the most fantastic Doctor ever, the variation of the (already wicked) music intro used in his era was the best. Check it out:

Mhmm, Whovian delight!
My family got a bunch of dusty old VHS cassettes of, ( I think. ) the first 6 or 7 doctors and watched them together over the course of about a year.
Of those, Tom Baker was the best by several lightyears.
Haven't had a chance to see the very latest Doctors, but Eccleston seems like he could be a real hoot. |

1. Tom Baker
2. John Pertwee.
3. Peter Davison.
4. Paul Mc Gann.
I met Colin Baker at a convention in Auckland, New Zealand and he gave me a hard time for not understanding that I had to pay the actors for their autographs. I thought he was pompos but still admire his performances in both Dr wHo and The Brothers (1970s drama). |

I think he could have been a great Doctor if he had better scripts, and didn't come during the utter collapse of the BBC.
But they never remember you for could haves |

Just came across this funny little mix of intros beginning with the William Hartnel Doctor and ending with David Tennant. Trip down memory lane. Misses out Doctors 8 and 9 though.
