most asians are not as covered under the PC umbrella as blacks are. Blacks have threatened to burn down american cities and they have political strength.

Among asians, koreans are less covered under PC rules. The japanese attacked the US in WW2 and this gets them some respect while the chinese have ICBMs that can nuke every american city. This also gets attention. What can koreans do? Laughing

The chinese are the world's largest manufactureres of precursor chemicals for narcotics, they produce much more counterfeit goods than NK so americans are wary of the chinese. Americans don't have to be wary of South koreans so they don't include us under the PC umbrella. Spitting and pushy people don't cut it I'm afraid.

The only way to get respect from americans is to either get ICBMs, have a lot of oil (saudi arabia) or threaten to burn down america's cities. Laughing

u kno man. u do speak the truth.

even jews when they came to america, had huge conflicts with nazi party in america (which was huge at the time). it basically came down to fights between jews and the nazi's which made them progress.

to be honest, a really weird unexpected thing was that i haven't seen too much anti asian sentiment in the american media after the seung hui cho incident. all i know is tho, imagine if seung hui cho spoke in korean, and said "Death to America!" Laughing omg, koreans would be the next middle easterners in America then. but since he spoke perfect english, and had an american perspective of his problems, he was seen as american culturally, and in the end, people realize that he became this way because of the way he was treated as a youngster, and part of that may have been anti asian racism. so it does seem like nowadays there is less.

its kind of sad how violence is the answer to most american problems.

Honestly, if a Westerner took a gum and mowed down 30 Koreans, how do you tink the Korean public would react?

They wouldn't act like the American public did, that's for damn sure.

I'm not at all surprised that the American publi didn't selectively go after Koreans after the Cho shootings.

well, imagine if the white guy spoke perfect korean, and spoke of how he hates the rich, blah blah blah, and shot whites, pakistanis as well as koreans. remember seung hui cho did shoot 2 asians as well.

well, for two days before his tapes came out, the american media did. but they saw that he spoke perfect english, and had american problems. so it was seen a teen angst more than anything else. but if he spoke in korean, and said "Death to America!" then it would be a differetn story altogether.

also there has been numerous incidents of korean kids being beaten up after the incident, and korean stores being vandalized. for a week, many korean stores in america saw a dramatic decline in revenue, some places up to 70%.

^ when did i threaten to kill people on this board?

i have said i will kill anyone who rapes a relative of mine in korea, or pushes one of my relatives down the stairs. that applies to koreans, kyopos or foreigners. this applies to any of my relatives all over the world.

if u are familiar with reading comprehension, what u said is non sequitor. please familiarize yourself with reading comprehension skills, they become a huge liability the older u get, the less reading comprehension u have.

well cho was an aberration. It's true though that the only reason blacks won their basic, minimal civil rights, was because they demanded it under threat.

If according to daves esl, america truely was HONEST and respected the RULE OF LAW then those rights should have been respected long before blacks had to take to the streets.

Lack of Rule of law and honesty is actually a huge problem in the west. When I visted there recently I saw so many illegal workers on street corners being illegally picked up for work by men, presumbably american citizens, in vans and trucks. America, please ENFORCE your immigration laws!

If you read the book "Fast Food Nation" you'll read about how corporate america is essentially dishonest in its treatment of illegal workers.

The law says you can't hire illegals but they flout the law and actually bus in illegals from south and central america.

There are millions of illegals in the states and it's been going on for decades. One can't begin to imagine the millions of cases of sexual harrassment and other crimes being done to these defenseless people.

People talk about not respecting contracts in korea, but those illegals in america aren't even offered contracts to begin with. they're the victims of american greed and dishonesty.

I recently got back from Korea and live about an hour and a half from Blacksburg. Everyone here is aware that Cho was a foreigner. We don't see him as culturally American. I doubt if anyone in my hometown writes their last name first or has ever watched Old Boy. Cho's English wasn't perfect and his roomate was surprised he was majoring in English since his English was so poor.

The reason no one blames Koreans about Cho is because he was clearly an individual, a mentally ill individual, clearly acting alone. We're all aware that there are mentally ill people from every country on the globe. The USA has plenty. So does Korea. So does everywhere else.
