I hear ya. The little girl who lived across the alley from me when we were kids, now all growed up, Facebooked me out of the blue. "I quit my job doing AIDS research at Harvard so I can finally finish my doctorate in anthropology at UC Berkeley. So what are you up to these days?"
Jeee-zus. |
Not a facebook story but I have a Korean adoptee friend who I've known since she was 17. She's finished med school and is applying for a residence program in bone doctorin'. She wanted me to proof read her application letter. She went into some detail about her talents with a bone saw. I have a hard time picturing my 17 year old friend in pleated walking shorts and a Kangool messenger bag now in full surgical dress sawing at a hip bone.
Thing I find interesting about facebook is it shows you the activity of your friends, what groups they've joined. I have an ex gf on my facebook. If I didn't still like her (well, not romantically), I'd try to freak her out by joining a bunch of gay bondage groups. (Hi Wylies99!) |

Also, like every girl I've ever kissed was able to find me on there, and nobody needs to be reminded of their past that much. I avoid these sites now, and it definitely has been a good decision. |
This is true. An exboyfriend found me this way a couple of days ago. I didn't mind however. But if I'd had minded, I could have just ignored him. He sent an invitation to be his friend, and all I had to do was ignore it. I have a limited profile, and he wouldn't have been able to see anything more than my name or view my friends. Obviously he already knows my name - so that's nothing special to give away. There is also an option to stop people viewing your friends.
You are not forced to accept anyone as your 'friend.' If any of these nasty girls you used to kiss invite you as a friend, just decline. Or, you can always drop the friend status later and they will not be able to see your profile, only a limited profile. And if you don't want anyone to recognise your face, just upload a picture of a monkey instead. |

How do you find womenfriends who have (most probably) married since you last saw them and no longer bear their maiden names?
Uhh..ok..wait for them to find you...right. |

| Plus changing one's maiden name in Real Life doesn't translate that readily into changing one's maiden name alldafug over the Web. |

This facebook thing suddenly got me interested in finding people on the web one time. Not everyone is on facebook needless to say..
Talking of google..If u type my name into a websearch U get about 30 hits. Its easy too because i'm the only person in the world with my name.
Problem is some people I look for only have 1 entry at most.. hard to track down. maybe they just got married and ceased their "public" life |

Easy if (as some women have) she calls herself married_name nee maiden_name. So if she used to be Miss Sally Smith, and is now Mrs Jones, she could be called Sally Jones nee Smith. I've seen a few women do that. |

yeah, you should see how many of my korean and asian friends complain about dirty white guys stalking them on facebook and myspace etc... |
Interesting...speaking of which.
When I once did try myspace, I tried it as a potential dating site in Korea...I said 'hello' message to a Korean-American girl who HAD been in Seoul, but then went back to Los Angeles.
BOY, did I ever get BLASTED from her - about 5 paragraphs about how its for friends not for trying to meet up someone you don't know!
Based on what you just wrote, it may just be that Asian women in the Los Angeles area get horny white guys trying to meet them all the time. Now it kinda makes sense. My message was nothing but genuine interest in a Korean-American IN Korea - nothing about trying to get laid or whatever, but quite a response back from her.
It's really safe to say, I pretty much abandoned myspace from that moment on.
This facebook thing, if you can turn off and regulate and whatever else, I would actually like to look up old or current friends. Great concept, if my old friends do actually have accounts there! |

It may just be that facebook is just real popular with expats in Korea - as internet is real accessable here, and the community is quite tight and large - and internet connected as well.
I'm just exploring on facebook now, and surprised how many people I know in Korea have accounts there! I'm having almost NO luck with real old friends I haven't seen in years and years however. |

my friend from canada visited me a couple of weeks ago, he KEPT on telling me about how facebook is HUGE in canada. much more popular than in America. (on a per capita basis)
everyone i meet from canada or korea that visit me, always try to stress about how they know more about america or do something more "american" then me. all it does is remind me im american. its weird.
have u tried looking for your high school or college in the "group search" feature?? |

they usually turn their profile to "private" because of their disgust. some even delete their profile because of the dirty white guys.

check out this funny segment on craigslist stalkers and how they expose like 70+ perverted white guys looking for an asian transvestite. |
Ironic you mentioned this. My ex-gf and a group of her friends from her Ryerson fashion program in Toronto (all seriously smoking hot) have had to endure relentless stalking too - from clueless Korean guys though. No joke. My ex works part time at a downtown retail store and has had countless Asian guys stalking her. One Korean wastecaste went so far as to post her name (which he got from her name badge) and place of work on Craigslist's "Missed Connections" for 4 consecutive weeks with the title "Beautiful Downtown [Name of Business] Girl who I Dream About Every Night." She had to get a mutual friend of ours to scare the guy off to leave her alone...the freak still loiters around outside occasionally, creepily staring at her through the window though.
When I hang out with her and her friends when i'm home I have to bite my tongue whenever I want to mention something about Korea 'cause of the negative impressions they have. For some reason the fashion industry in T.O attracts a lot of Koreans. Whenever there is a big party, the Korean girls from their classes bring along their Korean guy friends who think they can easily score hot local chicks. Long story short, my ex and all her friends no longer attend these type of parties anymore because of the immature, socially awkward and pathetic actions of the Korean guys. The lameness of these guys has become legendary.
My ex has been to Korea a few times to visit me and has told this story to a few people who are members of this very site....you know, just in case you think i'm blowing smoke up your hoopty. |

I tend to find North American Asian women who complain about white stalkers are also the ones who haven't had an Asian BF since they were 13 and exclusively date white guy. Babes, you think the white guy on your arm was initially attracted to you because of your personality?
Every woman, Asian/white/black/Klingon, has her share of creepy white male stalkers. Get over yourself, I say. |

Interesting, as I know you are Canadian. I was wondering if that was just an American thing...but it appears to be a Canadian thing too? Intersting.
I've met quite a few Asian women in the U.S. who think any white guy who shows interest is an 'asiaphile' and ask you in those terms. Are you some kind of 'asiaphile?'.
Then once you've spent 30 minutes proving that you have no clue what they are talking about, you've dated many different kinds of women, you have so special particular interest in asian women in particular, and that you spent a lot of years in Asia. Then suddenly they'll switch the conversation to their white boyfriends in the past who knew more about Asia then they ever did. |

hmm i see. haha. i guess stalkers of all ethnicities do exist then.
here is the latest news about the stories that I hear. (which obviously u are shielded from)
| Quote: |
| A white male Princeton grad student has confessed to cutting locks of hair from nine Asian American female students without their knowledge, as well as pouring his urine and semen into the drinks of Asian female students on more than 50 occassions. Real smooth. |

| Quote: |
| Lohman also admitted to pouring his bodily fluids into the drinks of Asian female students on more than 50 occasions, Robinson-Brown said. The fluids poured into the drinks were semen and urine, Lt. Dennis McManimon, the Borough police's spokesman, said in an interview Tuesday |
i mean, this is all pretty sick shiet. thank gawd for a diversity of viewpoints, because without it, no one in the english speaking world would be aware of the extensiveness of this sort of disgusting behavior. and now some of u guys do. |
