So I'm pretty new to Seoul and Korea really. Anyway, I was chowing down in the KFC in Itaewon on a Sunday night when this little lady knocks on the window, gives me a smile and motions for me to come outside. Now being the naive early 20s sorta guy that I am, I thought she mite need some help with something...so I walks outside with my fried chicken in a bag and approach the woman and she leans into my ear so her lips are seductively tickling my earlobe and whispers "pucky pucky"...I sort of went "say what now?"..."pucky pucky" she repeated...OH! the old can't pronounce your f's thing...I see...no thanks anyway love...

is this normal? I know that prostitution is illegal in Korea and that entrapment probably isn't, the last thing I expected was to have a young lady go window knocking to drum up business anyway.

edit: she was pretty blatant about it and there's a cop shop not too far down the road. I also think it was this old ajumma pimping her out so that just made me laugh as i taxied off. :edit

I was in Itaewon last month. There's this foreign grocery store near What the Book. I was across the street from there at about 4 PM, and this tall, thin Korean chick with blond hair opened her door and singled me out from the group. She was asking me what I'd like, and I just said, "Er, some groceries from across the street."

I'm from a small town, so It was a bit shocking, to say the least.

This will be a great story to tell a few months down the line when you start dating a Korean girl and she asks you if you've ever been to a prostitute. Just throw out this story. I call that play The Sidestep.

Ok, just talked to a mate of mine and he gave this clueless little padwan the lowdown on Korea.

Apparently there are laws in this country, but they are rarely enforced, in fact, according to him, they are openly flouted without even a wet bus ticket in sight. Awesome! Shall we light up a fat one on the steps of parliament then?

My stepfather was handed a hooker's business cards (perhaps she was a madam, not sure) at Yongsan station while my mother and I were both standing right there. She actually pushed us out of the way to get to him.

So no, buddy, you aren't that special.
