I don't know which forum this should be in, but I couldn't put it in FAQ.

Does anyone have any information about marrying a Korean woman and getting a UK marriage visa for her to come to the UK?

We've been together three years, but I am currently in the UK. I'll be studying for my teaching qualifiication from this September and hopefully employed in a UK school next Autumn.

We want to get married in Korea in the Spring and then return together to the UK afterwards.

Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks,

Alistair

You need to contact the Home Office.

I've been looking at that too. It seems such as hassle.
Appears that you must be in a stable job with your own accomodation in UK before she can come. I think it takes up to 12 weeks to get a visa.
Check the embassy website for info though.
In my case we want to move to the UK before marriage but it's either really hard to get her a work visa or a fiance visa won't let her work.

From what i gather the above link to the Home Office is information for Non-British citizens, i.e a foreigner that has been offered a job in the UK and his/her marital partner and family want to come with.

I think the first port of call should be the Embassy in Seoul, they should be able to furnish you with all the info regarding bringing a Korean partner into the UK.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've been checking those web sites you mentioned.

We also came to the conclusion that getting married in the UK is more complex - the whole visa bureaucracy of different rules for, student, fiance and work visas seems to make it really difficult.

About having to have a job and accomodation - is it possible to put one of your parents down as a sponsor on your wife's visa application?

I will hopefully have a job arranged for the next Autumn but I will still be a student when we actually get married, so that might be a difficult issue.
