Ive signed a contract for my new place but have had to re-order new transcripts due to my new job giving me the wrong address to post them to. Now one of the problems is my ARC runs out on the first of September. Which I take is also when my E2 runs out. I understand from there I have 14 days to leave the country right? But what if Ive re-contracted? Can I go to immigration and get some kind of special visa extension due to the whole transcript problem?
2nd problem is my new job says I need a letter of release from my current job. However my contract is all finished up by this Friday. Why would they need to release me if Im finished? Do I really need it?
3rd problem is a while back my current boss asked me if I would re-contract with them and I said yes. Then a better opportunity came up for me with 1 1/2 months to go until I was finished. So I let her know and she said okay. Then with my last day being on Friday she says, "Well in your contract there is a clause which says you need to give me at least two months notice if you are going to finish." So she said she wasn't going to give me the letter of release/recommendation and she didn't say it so much but I think she will try and screw me out of my bonus as well. But after much placating she seemed a bit turned around on the idea so maybe she wont.
But is there anything I can do if she tries something on with this? After all, there is that clause which says I should give two months notice that Im going to finish prior to leaving ... |

| If your contract is up then surely there is nothing she can do. You haven't signed a new contract - a verbal agreement holds no water. |

Your immediate concern is your expiring ARC. You MUST leave or extend by midnight on the expiry date. If you extend your current E2 or stay then you will also need the LOR before your new school can process you because you are still under the old visa.
Your best bet is to grab a ferry or cheap airticket out and back. Then you won't have to worry. Your new school can process you after your return because you are free from your old visa and the LOR encumbrance.

| But dont I have 14 days to leave the country after the expiry of my E2 visa? Which just so happens to be the same date that my ARC expires. |

Huh?!?!?!
Look at your ARC. The expiry date on it is the day that you must be out of the country. Now, as far as the 14 days goes, you can get that as long as you go down to your local immigration office, plane ticket in hand to show them that you actually have the ways and means to leave the country, and extend your stay in the country for a max of 14 days. Pay very close attention to the dates here, otherwise you will run into trouble.
THERE IS NO 14 DAYS AFTER YOUR VISA EXPIRES!!! After your visa runs out, if you haven't obtained a new visa, an extension, or Korean citizenship, then you are up the crick, no paddle, get your behind to immigration right away or they will smack you. Hard. Using a stick with a nail through the end of it. |
