They tried to pull the same thing on me at my public school. When I asked the finance office (and later the provincial office) they told me that "It's ok--we're just giving it to you every month instead of holding it out and giving you a lump sum at the end." Thing is, that meant they weren't contributing their 4.5%.
When I asked about that, they (both places) said that I wouldn't be getting their contribution anyway--only my 4.5% which would be deducted every month. After paying a visit to the pension office and having them call the school, I'm happy to say that this month they have taken out everything they were supposed to take out.
So don't listen to this BS. Take it up with the pension office and have them set things straight.
Here's a link to the thread where this was discussed: |

No pension means your boss is going to put a million won of your money (his portion of your pension contribution) into his pocket.
You can also bet that he won't be paying into the national health care plan (NHIC) either (even if he does take the deductions from your pay) because that would flag you to the pension plan.
Sucks to you you. It's gonna be a long year. |

Make sure they take out for the prior months that they haven't paid yet...in the end you'll be happy, and that's not a gay joke either... |

So if you're not getting pension taken out, you don't have health insurance, and you are not even legally employed.
If you work like this and come back for another contract, to my understanding, you will be caught and forced to pay back the pension and health care insurance amounts for that year your employer didn't pay in to the government systems. This is when you find out your previous employer robbed you blind!
This is bologny that a public school principal is trying to line his pockets, turn him in by seeking to get your situation rectified through the provincial office, pension office, and labor office. That would be my strategy for dealing with corrupt principals and directors though I have not done this yet.
Speaking of pension, is there a website we all can easily check out balances and deposits with to ensure everything is going as it should??? |

That's a very dangerous game the accounting staff was playing there. Even in Korea, embezzlers can find themselves in jail and/or fired. There's a nifty little manual that the school's finance office is provided with. It's from the Metropolitan/Provinicial Office of Education and has all the procedures listed quite clearly on how to pay the foreign teacher. Blowing off that manual at the low level of the school is just not a good idea, careerwise, for the accounting staff. |
