Get out your long-sleeve shirts!
I was sitting here in my undies with the windows all open and my knees started to turn blue. The official Ya-ta Boy thermometer out on the balcony says 73 degrees F.
I'm getting ready to go out for my birthday supper (Happy Birthday to Me!) and I WON'T be wearing my shorts and sandals. In another week or two we'll have to resurrect that old thread about turning on the ondol.
Hurray for Fall |

I dont have accurate details for this year but I heard that Choso, one of the 24 lunar calendar divisions, fell on this weekend just past. Choso means "lesser heat."
Up here in the northeast it was spot on, with a 20 degree drop between saturday & monday. |

Yeah, it's a chilly 68 (20C) outside right now...I'LL TAKE IT!! After suffering through 2 days of 95 (35) + degrees in my classroom with one semi-working air conditioner, today was a pleasant suprise!! |

Seoul is definitely a different and cooler climate than the rest of the country south of Seoul with the exception of several weeks of hot weather time like we just experienced.
Last spring, it was very pleasant in the south and I road a bus on a Saturday only to find I needed a darned winter coat as it was very cool upon arrival in Seoul. In the Spring, Cherry blossom season comes like 2 weeks later in Seoul than in Jinhae and I would guess Fall and Winter come about 2 weeks earlier than in Jinhae with temps 2 to 5 degrees cooler.
It was very humid, warm, sweaty, but rainy as can be today in the south. It is still very hot, humid, and sweaty weather in the south. |

Yeah, if you can get through summer here, it's all good until next April when the nasty dust shows up. I wish this country could permanently stay in autumn. Late September / early October here is just about perfect. Anyone know that Chinese proverb? 천고마비 / Ch'un-go ma-bi? High blue heaven and fat horses? Cloudless blue skies and the temperature between 10-15C. Perfect. |

very chilly outside, but still stuffy and nasty in my little officetel. windows are too small, don't let much air in (when it's really windy, though, it gets a bit extreme in here).
so far spring and it looks fall will not be pleasant in my apt. hopefully it at least means i'll have a warm winter |

Happy Birthday, Ya-ta Boy!
THis change of weather is glorious, I tell ya, glorious! Yes, please, let it stay like this for months and months.
As reigning no ondol champion, I am announcing to all and sundry that I will be extending my one year streak of not turning on the ondol this year. Who needs it when the weather is finally turning bearable? |

Last year I had no AC and summer really took its toll on me. I couldn't sleep or relax anywhere. This summer has been so easy with the joys of AC.
I have felt it coming for the last few days, and last night walking out of work...it was.....chilly. I was so happy I cried. I love autumn. The best season in Korea.
I didnt really cry. |

I don't know but it sure is nice to not be drenched in sweat morning, noon, and night. 77F are all the degrees anyone needs, if you ask me. |
