I will be leaving Korea soon and have a pending job offer in the states. My problem is the company who wants to hire me wants a police record check on me since I have lived here a year. They want to make sure I have not been in trouble here. I asked my boss about this and he called local immigration office and they said they never heard of such a request. Acted like i was talking crazy. My boss said " you havn't been in trouble here,, why do you need a record?". This company interested in me won t cut any slack regarding this. HOW DO I GET A POLICE RECORD CHECK HERE IN KOREA? Thanks poorman |

Go to the district police office where you live. When I requested one earlier this year(in Incheon,Bupyeong) it took only a few minutes and was free. |

It is possible. My public school wanted a criminal check from Canada. I told them that I had no idea how to do that. They said, "Forget about it. Just get a local Korean criminal record check." So I went to the Namdaemun (Dongdaemun?) Police Station with a Korean friend and I got it in about 15 minutes. You shouldn't have a problem. |

An American company wants you to get your own background check?
Usually companies want you to sign a form so they can do the background check themselves. It's nice to know there are stupid companies in the US also. |
