blynch, I don't know if you're just trying to me sarcastic or hostile towards me.

Whatever you have to do to float your boat I guess.

But no need to make it personal. I haven't come like that at you, and I expect that you'd do the same.

Cause this whole thread is about Interracial dating/marriage in KOREA!!!

and your point is? i said I don't know any korean girls dating white guys in korea or the us.

once again please reread my post:

Quote:
you make these connections that I am speaking of "all korean women" when I say I don't KNOW any korean women dating white guys.

i am just speaking of the stereotypes that exist on the other side.

like i said, they're not true for everyone. *shrugs*

i don't think all korean guys who date white girls are studs. but the stereotype exists that they are.

i live in a world of reality as well. you have to remember the ESL community is quite small in korea. i imagine total there are about 23,134 language teacher visas in korea.

http://wiki.galbijim.com/Visa#E-2_Language_Teachers

now i imagine 17,000 are english teachers (rest being french, chinese, japanese, conservative estimate). about probably half are korean americans. so 8,500 white ESL teachers in Korea.

half are male. so 4200 total.

of those, about 50-90 on dave's ESL.

Now, given that most of the contact here is with students or hakwon owners, im not sure how you can say that you know the stereotypes that exist outside of this little community.

like I already said, i don't know a single korean girl in US or Korea dating a white guy. Given the small ness of this community, i fail to see how you can't see that my experience can actually exist.

you have to realize that there are a LOT of Koreans or kyopos in Korea who do not hang out with AWM esl teachers all day. Laughing

and there are foreigners who are students in korea as well. in fact, i would say that the few times a korean would meet a foreigner in a peer setting in Korea is as a student meeting a foreign student.

I need to get to bed, but one last thing for just another day.

I appreciate hearing different opinions. And debating is something I enjoy.

But your purpose on these boards over the past few weeks has been more negative than positive.

You try to call out certain racist/sexist beliefs held by some on this board (which I actually agreed with you on), but then you go on to make equally racist and sexist remarks yourself.

If your intentions were to foster some balance when you first joined this site, you have failed miserably.

You throw out statements like Korean women who date Western men are whores, too old, or ugly. Now you could of presented this in a different way and actually attempted to have a civil discussion as to why some Korean men might feel this way.

But instead you say nothing and leave the comment as it is. This makes the reader believe that you in turn support these beliefs.

If so, how is this constructive for this board?

Unless you just came here to troll and stir up problems. Listen man, some balance would be nice. And I understand that there are some equally bad trolls on the other side (which I have also called out harshly) which makes it difficult to present a positive argument.

But if you just came here to troll, why don't you just leave. It's already a problem here and you're just making it worse with some of your comments.

doggyji is the example of the kind of poster we should all aspire to be. It's okay to debate a subject, but a little bit more positivity on this board wouldn't hurt.

No I just had a long day at work and I can't fall asleep.

Just don't go after my girlfriend. I'm fair game if you want to get personal cause I post here. But she doesn't so leave her out of it.

Really funny. Why do you care so much about this board? (when you have a gf O&U)

sometimes AWM trolls interests overlap with yours. Sometimes they don't.

i have zero interests overlapping with AWM trolls. this is the difference between our points of views.

most "apologists" as they are called, are too busy enjoying korea, learning korean, etc... to be on here for too long, why waste their time in korea on daves? so eventually, there will be nothing but AWM here anyways instead of this "balancer" role anyways, because people who want to balance, will just be pulled more towards the AWM view anyways because people who are learning korean and appreciate their time in korea, don't stay on dave's too long. thats why the majority of voters here (not posters) believe that dave's presents a skewed version of korea. the AWM drive everyone out.

Yet you make sexist/racist comments under the cloak of stereotypes which makes you just as bad as these angry white men,

Your points may differ, but they do overlap. And as a result you add to the skewed version of Korea.

I guess we're both wasting our time here then, aren't we?

eh well, i thought i leave on a good note with u, then u come back angry. i suppose its my posts towards AWM doing that.

but they are directed towards AWM. i guess the only consolation i can offer to u is that i didn't do it first and its directed towards the AWM.

Jesus Christ, did you even read what Becky wrote?

She had it comming to her simple and plain.

And again I didn't say she was ugly. She ain't that bad. I myself prefer a little more junkidy in the trunkidy, but hey!

Im so glad that I didnt sit in front of the computer last night to read the barrage of insults coming my way.

I dont think Ive ever dished out any personal insults to anyone on this forum (except, on one occasion, JAD), so I am utterly bemused and shocked at the very personal comments directed toward me.

Did any of you guys (besides Big Bird) actually read my freaking posts??!! My initial post was actually calling JAD up for the sexist remarks he was making about Korean women.

I never claimed I was beautiful or even attractive, I simply said that I wasnt obese or vulgar Ive seen the kinds of insults that get thrown at girls who dare to suggest that some of the MEN on this forum are not Brad Pitt look-alikes and thought Id take pre-emptive action to avoid these particular two insults being levelled at me. Instead, a general critique of my looks has ensued!! (Although apparently I had it "comming" to me - spell check, anyone?)

The only reason why I use a photo as my avatar is to avoid some of the insults Ive seen levelled at women in this forum the favourite, of course being that they are fat, tattooed etc etc. When I referred to the Are you hawt thread I made a general comment that the women (NOT me) one this forum are generally very pretty, and suggested that, from the majority of the photos Id seen, the men werent, in general, of the same level of attractiveness.

Thanks Big Bird for being my lone defender but I cant believe I was stupid enough to try and defend the much abused honour of Western women on this misogynistic forum.

A fact little acknowledged on this forum however, is that a LOT of men in Korea are also obese, vulgar and generally physically unappealing. Im sure personal comments will come flying now, but I will firstly say that I'm petite and slim and I NEVER burp in company Razz

Come on Becky!

You even expected personal comments to come your way cause you know what you said was derogatory.

And then you complain about it.

You can't have it both ways. And I'm sorry if you took my comment as a personal insult. You posted your pic here and that takes some moxie. And you look happy in your photo so that's great.

But you can't go about making general statements like "a LOT of men in Korea are also obese, vulgar and generally physically unappealing" and then try to maintain some kind of a moral high ground.

And you did take it personal because your comment later mentioned how you know this based on your observations of pictures of Western men on this board - i.e. Are you Hawt? thread.

Endo, do you even know the definition of "personal"??? Did I make any comments about your looks, or the appearance of any other guy IN PARTICULAR on this forum????

I agree that perhaps the comment re: the "hawt" thread could have been left alone, but I reiterate that I never made any personal comments toward any member of this forum.

If you read my comment again, you will see that I said " a lot of men in Korea are ALSO..." etc etc - I was responding to the claims made time and time again by males on this forum that Western women in Korea ar, in general, poor physical specimens. I don't see you jumping all over the people who make those kinds of insulting generalisations of Western women!

Thanks a lot for making me feel bad about myself - I'm over it now though, as I realise that the opinion of people who hold views like yours really doesn't matter to me.

Becky, stop with this.

You would get more respect if you just held your hands up an admitted you tried getting personal. And I quote:

So you knew what you said was out of order and you knew that you were going to cop flak.

No-one has called you ugly, endo said you didn't look like Jessica Biel but so bloody what? People have called me ugly and a fat tosser based on my photos and I laugh... well I'm not fat so they are only half right. do you honestly think I give a toss what anyone says about me? No-one has insulted you so just relax.

My posts on here was to show how nonsensical generaliazations were, you were guilty of making some ridiculous sweeping comments and went on to insult the majority of posters who put their photos up on the 'hawt' thread. At least you've admitted your role in insulting the majority of the blokes in the 'hawt' thread so thats a start!
