first you have to file a police report. as for saturdays, i doubt it. i had to go to mokdong immigration. take a sick day. you reapply for it in mokdong (give them the police report), then they can have it mailed to you. takes a week.

IF there are extenuating circumstances (required for travel - may have to show your ticket), they can print one off while you wait.

Personally, I have never waited more than 30 minutes for a REPLACEMENT card (the latest application was my wife's replacement card this spring at the Mokdong office in Seoul). I have also gotten a replacement card at the Suwon office and it was "whlle-you-wait" service there as well.

You can ONLY get a replacement card at your local immigration office (the office that has jurisdiction over your area).

cheers guys:
2 questions..

is it easy to get a police report? (my employers are no use with any kind of help)

and.. what qualifies as a replacement card? just dont tell them my wallet was nicked or anything? (i ask because of ur use of capital letters with REPLACEMENT)

Thanks again,

keep the ideas and replies coming please..its like 3 weeks til my holiday an 2 weeks till the earliest available appointment at the suwon office

anywhere open on a saturday?
o and can i get it at the airport immigration office (obviously not the day i wanna travel but a week or so before) i figure this might be quicker than waiting in line in Suwon or Seoul.

Thanks x

Replacement card as compared to the original 1st one you get issued (which takes 7-10 days to process and return to you). The repalcement will be identical to the original in all respects EXCEPT the issue date - which will be the date you get it. The expiry will remain the same.

You don't need an appointment, Just drop in during business hours 9-4:30, Monday to Friday, take a number and wait your turn. You can ONLY get it done at your local office - not like you can pick and choose which office is convenient for you.

You cannot get one at the airport.

The police report you can get at any station. The police office in your dong will probably be the easiest. Ask a co-worker to write you a note in Korean that says you want to report a lost ID card.
