Anyone know what kind of place the COEX casino is? By that I mean is it a real casino (you dress up, it's a nice looking place, you drink expensive drinks) or like a reservation casino (anyone can come in, there are penny slots and a dirty t-shirt is A-OK)? Is it somewhere in between? Me and the lady were thinking of going there this weekend, so I want to know what I'm getting into.

Probably somewhere in between. You might see a few dirty white guys playing the 100 won slots, and you'll surely see Japanese businessmen dropping 20,000 yen at roullette.

Yep, that's pretty much right. Most people are dressed nicely except for the English teachers/soldiers. The cheap slots are kind of separated from the rest of the casino. Drinks and food are free though.

Oh no! I have to choose between comfort and reinforcing stereotypes or discomfort and not feeling like a dirtbag. Crying or Very sad

You gotta dress proper to lose all your money. Otherwise, you're just foolish.

Can you bring your Korean gf inside or does she have to wait outside?

korean citizens are not allowed inside, unfortunately.

went a year or so ago- they didn't card me. but last week, the 7 luck casino at the hilton carded me and my bf! (we are both obviously white)

7 luck at the coex was extremely disappointing. as dridgway said, it was a little strange. go to walker hill- it's got a nicer feel.

i'm pretty sure they'd take your money no matter how your dressed.

No, just wear a polo and some pants and you'll be golden.

I went to the Seven Luck at the Hilton about a month ago sporting flip flops, cargo shorts and a tee shirt, no problems. Well, it was during the day so I am not sure if it is different at night. They did check my passport, so bring that. Good luck!

The drinks are incredibly weak at COEX. I ended up going directly to the bar and watched them pour to encourage them to try and get me drunk. The food is mediocre and you'll start getting the stinkeye after about three meals.

This is surprising. Most casinos would rather have you drunk. The money they lose on free booze is nothing compared to the money they make back on Jack Daniels Judgement.
