Met a few Canadian vegan women here and in Taiwan, all fat and pasty.
Is it from all the pasta they eat, or just genetics?
Back home we eat mad steaks and pies every day, so just curious as to why they are gross and obese and I am not. |

You absolutely need to post a photo of yourself so we can verify your claim. |

I'm still waiting to see that picture of you in a thong. I think everyone on this board is waiting. So where is it? |

Yeah, but Bramble's gotta do the same.
Whoa, that would be SOOO cool. Damn. Just thinkin' 'bout it ... okay, okay, cool down, Bob, just cool down.

I know--I was momentarily impotent too after envisioning that. |

Well, it doesn't matter if I'm fat or not, I eat a lot of junk food, processed food, and fatty meat, the question is what in the name of frickin' Christ are these vegans eating to make them so chubbed up? |

Ok, will post actual answer to your question. Vegan does not equal healthful food. I was vegan for two years. Back then I was easily 10 pounds heavier than I am now (but still nowhere near what you would call fat; don't know what that's about). If you're used to eating a lot of dairy and stuff, vegan food often leaves you feeling hungry after a couple of hours. I started to eat a lot more junk food. And not just junk food, really crappy junk food (baked goods made hydrogenated veg. oil instead of butter, get it?).
Also, a lot of people are heavier because of genetics, medical conditions, or lack of exercise (I myself am a pretty lazy *beep*, so will never judge anyone for this). Be nice, will you? |

A lot of people are heavier because of food - too much food. |

and not enough exercise...
As long as you match the amount of food you eat with enough calorie burning exercise you won't get fat...at least that's what I heard in health class long long ago.... |

As a matter of fact, once I was really drunk and asking my friend's vegan/straight-edge girlfriend a bunch of questions.
For example, vegans do not eat animals because animals are innocent. Whatever their definition of innocent, they believe that humans don't qualify. So, she told me, it is vegan to eat humans. |

It's not the type of diet that makes the person chunky. There are quite a lot of factors: genetics, amount of food intake, metabolism, mental health issues (stress, etc.). There is also a wide difference between a healthful vegan diet and an unhealthful vegan diet just as there's a wide difference between a healthful omnivorous diet and an unhealthful omnivorous diet.
I personally follow a vegetarian diet and am pretty good about adhering to the traditional vegetarian food pyramid (with the obvious exception of my not drinking tea or booze--I'm LDS). Another cool resource is the 1997 American Dietetic Association position paper on vegetarian diets, which includes:
Quote: |
Position of the American Dietetic Association: Vegetarian Diets (1997)
Scientific data suggest positive relationships between a vegetarian diet and reduced risk for several chronic degenerative diseases and conditions, including obesity, coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and some types of cancer. Vegetarian diets, like all diets, need to be planned appropriately to be nutritionally adequate.
POSITION STATEMENT
It is the position of The American Dietetic Association (ADA) that appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, are nutritionally adequate, and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. |
Seems to me that, if done correctly, Vegan Diet = Healthful Diet. |
