Did it say anything about the background of these guys? Where are they from, jobs, etc.?

Uhhh.. from what I understand we have the taxi-driver and an owner of one of those comic book places (rows and rows of sliding bookshelves with books). If I understand correctly, the three of them were planning to work together to open up a fast-food restauraunt soon.. but they decided to go on the killing spree first.

(If I got that wrong.. let me know..)

Got to love at first the media said they were gyropo's to take the crime off Koreans. But turns out they were Korean ajoshi. Same thing is happening with the fake degree's, Blamed the foreigners for years now we find out every Mr.kim and his relative has a fake degree. Sometimes this place just makes you shake your head in disbelief.

Link? I've looked for evidence of this, but all I found was the hearsay in this thread.

Cops: Taxi driving robbers killed 3

August 31, 2007
Three men from Songpa were arrested yesterday for raping and killing three young women they picked up in a taxi on separate occasions, the Yongsan Police Precinct announced yesterday.

Another suspect was arrested for helping the fugitives flee. Their names were not released.

The men hoped to acquire 30 million won to open a restaurant, said Kim Chang-jun of the Yongsan Precinct, who said the suspects confessed.
The first incident began in the Hongdae area of western Seoul. At 2 a.m. on Aug. 18, one of the men, a taxi driver, picked up two women, ages 24 and 25. The two other suspects trailed behind in rented car, Kim said.
Right after the two women were kidnapped, one of them dialed 112 (the police emergency line) through her cell phone, but didnt say anything before it was disconnected.

The taxi driver took the two women to a remote place in Goyang, Gyeonggi, on the western outskirts of Seoul. The women were raped, suffocated and left in the Han River near the Gimpo Grand Bridge, Kim said.

About four hours later, one of the suspects withdrew 1 million won ($1,063) from an ATM in Seokchon-dong in Songpa, southern Seoul.
The bodies of the two women were recovered from the Han River in Incheon on Aug. 23 and 24.

In the second case, the taxi driver picked up a 27-year-old woman near Gangnam Station in southern Seoul on Aug. 20, then all three men raped and suffocated her near Paldang Dam on the outskirts of eastern Seoul, Kim said. The men stole 37,000 won.

One of the suspects wore a Pro-Specs hat, which is not fashionable or popular with the young crowd, to cover his face when he withdrew money from an ATM, Kim said. So we looked for a taxi driver in his 30s or older who wore that brand in the area where the ATM was located, Kim said. The taxi driver is 35; the other two suspects are 30 and 38.
The police are investigating any possible relationship to other murders.

That's amazing that the police got them based on a "pro specs" hat.

No one in the media ever said it was foreigners or gyopo...that was baseless crap posted on here.

This is a truly heinous act.

Did you see the poster's follow up which said the part about the gyopos was not true?

It's cases like this that make you really believe in the death penalty. They deliberately snuffed out 3 young lives and they've admitted it. And it sounds like they went out of their way to make these girls suffer first. The suffering doesn't end with the deaths of those girls. One can only imagine what their families must be going through now, knowing how horribly their daughters/sisters died. These guys should die.

This is one of the most bizarre things I've ever read. Done in by a Pro-Specs cap. Are we meant to conclude, then, that if the suspect had shelled out a few extra man won for a Nike cap, he would have eluded capture?

Cracking detective work. Who needs rubbish like CSI? DNA evidence? Bollox. Call in the 2 Jays from ANTM and analyse the suspects' wardrobe for all the clues, I say.

This whole story makes me feel sick. It seems they were taking these girls to try to take their money. A girl was taken and killed for 37,000 won. Disgusting. I think these people should just be left to go free with their addresses published in every newpaper and article in the country, while pictures of them are posted on every street corner.

The girls should have just started screaming when she called 112, but I guess it is impossible to say where you are going when you are in a taxi.

I don't really even like thinking about how sick people are.

Yes, it did work, and that's excellent news. It just seems like a pretty large leap to assume that because of the brand name of clothing one was wearing, that must obviously mean the perpetrator was in his thirties, not to mention that by the sounds of the article, it was the largest piece of evidence they had to go on.

If I'm ever that desperate and have to commit a crime here, remind me to dress in plaid pants, a beige shirt, vest and white gloves. They'll be looking for every single adjosshi from here to Busan.

The money for a restaurant angle is obvious bullshit. Raping them didn't produce any extra cash. One of them was strangled with a pair of shoelaces for fucks sake. And the police are not convinced those were the only 3 women they attacked.
