At my public school there are 20 something teachers but only 1 that I am in contact with on a a regular basis: my co-teacher. I actually like my co-teacher so I buy him stuff when I go on vacation...The rest...ehh....

I get some cheap shit for the co-workers I'm closest too and something really nice for the principal. The ones who get the cheap stuff understand that that's how things work here and are happy with whatever they get.

When I came back from vacation during winter, I brought back presents for every teacher and worker in the school. I bought a ton of stuff for 2 of my coworkers who are particulary nice to me as well as stuff for their families.

It was about 30 people.

No, I don't buy gifts for coworkers when I go on vacation. I buy things for friends outside of work when I go on vacation. But I do buy gifts for my coworkers birthdays, and sometmes, I bring food goodies to share with my coworkers, like fresh baked muffins from my oven. Very Happy I also use MY own money to buy presents for the kids when they get a certain number of stickers...so I do my part in life.

How many of your coworkers buy gifts for you when they go on vacation? I've yet to receive any even though I bought some for mine last winter...this summer needless to say, I didn't buy any.

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were to bring back a present, it would be a slap in the face plus a back-hand blow. Hey, I just took my vacation that you dont receive and bought you a cheap gift with the money you dont make.

I really encourage the waygooks at my school not to talk about their vacations. I consider it very rude.

Thats at a Howgron. I would assume its a different situation at public schools.

Don't know what this has to do w/ it...if they don't like the vacation time they recieve they should consider another line of work.

Yes, but I work at a small hogwan with only 3 other employees. Sometimes I just bring back food goodies for everyone to share.

I recently heard a Korean factory owner make a similiar statement: If these South East Asians dont like the conditions in our factories, then they can go back to their countries.

Probably not the same line of thinking though.

Yes even if it is just a little magnet or something. The love it and it goes a long way to foster good will. Always bring Principal and Vice Principal something a little nicer but not expensive.

Again, what goes around comes around.

I bring back some sort of snack or sweets local to the country I visited. Then, we all share with the kgarteners after lunch. You can't go wrong with food, and if someone doesn't like it, they don't have to eat it, but they were still part of the gift.

I also get my elementary students a card for their birthdays because I always liked when a teacher remembered mine. And a gift for the kgarteners that we have parties for [only the morning students.]

I mean, it's all small stuff, but still always appreciated and the boss likes it.
