Hello everyone!
A friend of mine is involved in this festival and wanted me to help get the word out. I went to last year's festival, and I think this year's will be a lot of fun. If you have any questions, post it on this thread, PM me or call my friend Sunny.
Hope to see you there!

Why is every event in Korea an "International" Event.
The "International" Dog Barbeque Festival,
The "International" Ramyeon Cook off,
The "International" Adjuma sprint for the seat 20 metre dash,
The "Internatinal" Soju Barfing Extravaganza.
Then we have the "International" cities
Kwangju, "International" city of Happiness
Busan, "International" city of Dynamicness
Ulsan, "International" city of Dreaminess
Hey look there's one foreigner in the crowd, must be an "international" event.
Enough of that, hope it's a great "International" event! |

A number of the surfers participating are not Korean. Last year, there were surfers from Japan and a few others may have been foreign teachers. All I can say is that this year's festival is bigger than last years, so there may be even more non-Korean surfers....
Edit: I sent an email to my friend Sunny for her answer to your question. I'll post her response here.... |

I spoke to Sunny.
In 2005, there were enough surfers to have a field for an international heat. Since that time, increasing numbers of surfers have taken an interest in this festival. According to Sunny, there are 40-50 foreign surfers in Busan currently and she believe that many of them will attend. And as stated before, a number of Japanese surfers are always around surfing in the area.....
Hope that answers your question... |

If I bolt my bicycle onto my surfboard, can I still enter the competition?
P.S. I'm not Korean. |

Quick, before foreigners are banned in a nonracist, nondiscrimiantory, nonxenophobic last minute decision! |

I've got some friends coming in from out of town. May take them to this. Any more info on the "performances"? What about the surf festival party? Where, when??? Just trying to decide if it's worth the money.
Thx. |

Hi. I sent a message off to Sunny but in the mean time I'll answer with what I know.
The only thing I can confirm is that the festival party is on the beach on Saturday. I believe it wil start at around 6 or 7 but I am waiting to hear back from Sunny for confirmation. I will be heading down to Busan today, so If you are thinking of heading down on Saturday, I can pm you my number and if you need more info, you call me up and I can let you know what's going on. |

Are the waves any good down there--I mean enough for an international
surfing competition? If so, where are y'all surfing and what are the conditions on a fair day? I haven't found
hardly anything really worthwhile in my excursions.
I'd be one happy camper if y'all got a secret spot. |

I'm no surfer....I'm not even a swimmer, so I can't really tell you how great the waves are from personal experience. It's enough to get on a board and ride. That's all I can figure....
The festival is in front of the paradise hotel at haeundae beach. I haven't been there since last year, so I can't think of how to explain how to get there. You can go and check out the waves for yourself |
