| I thought "Shiri" was supposed to be South Korea's first Hollywood-type film. |

It seems like D-War was a pretty blatant attempt to make an "American" movie in order to get Hollywood careers for the Koreans involved. It's not the first time that a foreign filmmaker has done it.
Now, there have been a lot of successful foreign directors in Hollywood - Fritz Lang, Jean Renoir, Ernst Lubisch, Roman Polanski, Alejandro Irritu, Alfonso Cuarn, Ang Lee - but they all have or had one thing in common. They could speak English well enough to direct American actors. Shim obviously does not. |

| Bleck. I saw this Korean backyard piece o' crap today. It's kind of touted as Korea's big entry into the American block buster summer movie scene but it's kind of the Hyundai Pony of FX flicks. |
I saw his last monster movie, Yonggary, and it was pretty craptastic, too. It actually holds an honoured place in my collection of bad B-movies, so I may just see D-War on the off-chance that it will join Yonggary in its shrine. |
