Anyone else here rock the Penguin? I'm running Ubuntu Studio (based on Debian) on all my pcs and absolutely love it! It's fast, efficient, and once you get past the learning curve, straightforward to use. I was just wondering if anyone else here was running some form of Linux or another?

SuSE 10.2

Ubuntu was a sod for getting the wireless networking up and running on a thinkpad. Gave up in the end. Had a couple of friends trying at the same time some with success others with the same problems.

Mint uses Gnome which I don't like, MintKDE wasn't allowing me to scale back my processor speeds and running my Thinkpad hot

SuSE 10.2 just worked. Needs a few tweaks and fiddles but it's a decent OS.

Interesting release, no proprietary software.

I'm a big Linux fan, but if I run Openoffice, firefox, and cygwin under windows then windows actually works better for me.

utorrent under wine didn't work well last time I tried it.
Some websites don't work the same under Linux.
I need IE to access my bank account and Korean websites.

I've been using Linux since 1991 when I loaded it on a
black and white laptop with an 80 meg hard drive using
a stack of floppies, and you still have to fudge with it.

The only downside is I have to use my work computer or missus's computer to acces my banking.

I presume that Mac owners have the same problems as Linux owners?

My only problem with Linux/Ubuntu is that I have a hard time burning anything to dvd. Maybe that is the one and only good thing Windows is good at??
