So I'm confused as to when my visa is up. The visa in my passport says October 2, but my alien card says October 7. I arrived in Korea on October 7th last year. So which is the correct expiration date? Passport or ARC? Thanks. |

The visa in your passport is irrelevant. It is about your entry and not your stay.
The period of sojourn (stay in Korea) is governed by your ARC and that is the date you must worry about.

or if that link fails then:

Right hand side of the page, click the icon that says Alien registration card. |

DO you have an m already? Aren't you just extending your visa which is either an m or an s.
Or are you talking about the reentry permits - 50k a suwon. Told me I had to come back once I had my ARC card but they may just let you do it there and then since you have it. |

You don't get a "M" when you extend. "M" is on the original 1 year visa ONLY.
The cost will be 30k won each for your extensions and 50k won each for the multi-re-entry permits. (80k won each total).
You will need your ARCs, passports, new contract, guarentor document from your employer, copy of the employers business registration and application forms for your and your wife to go along with the 160k won. |

When we went to get my card yesterday, the lady said that I already have a multiple entry visa, because of the 'm'. But according to this thread, that isn't it. Can you buy a multiple entry visa for several entries, or do you have to pay for each one separately. Thanks. |

US citizens get a multi-entry visa for their 1st year.
IF they extend their stay (like spliff is doing) for a 2nd (or subsequent) year(s) they have to get a re-entry permit(s) for the extended period (1 each year). He is NOT getting a new visa.
If a US citizen acquires a NEW visa rather than just extend the current period of sojourn then they get a "M" for the 1st year of the new visa.
OP - If you picked up your card yesterday, then you are within the 1st year of your stay on your current visa and your "M" multi-entry is good for this year. You do NOT need to get a re-entry permit until your visa status changes or is extended. |

Sorry, I'm still confused.
I paid for an address change/extension of stay (I think) and my change of job for a total of 90,000 won. I changed jobs (and cities). There is no new stamp in my passport, so I am wondering if there is yet another thing I must buy.
I am extremely nervous because the only visa in my passport that I have looks to be "expired," although my ARC has been stamped on the back with the new address and new date.
Just to be clear, I have to go to immigration to get a Multiple-Entry something-or-other (stamp?), correct? I am a US citizen. I intend to leave the country (Hong Kong) over Chuseok... |

I am not completely sure about your current status so...
Stop at the immigration office in the airport - they are located in the little hallway behind check-in counter "F" - and ask them to confirm whether your re-entry status was maintained or not with the change and extension.
I would think that if you extended your stay your would have lost your re-entry privilage and would require a re-entry permit. The cost for a single re-entry is 30k won at the airport.
This would take 15-30 minutes (depending on the lineup in front of you) and should be done BEFORE you check-in. |

Right, when you extend your visa you have to buy a re-entry stamp as well...either a "s" for 30,000 or a "m" for 50,000. You don't get a new visa in your passport your visa is extended until the "new" expiration date on your ARC. |
