| Wow, no one here played Super Mario Bros 3 as a kid? |
Damn I'd play it now if I had Nintendo. |
Enjoy.

Board games, like "Sorry!" (oh, that game had us near-homicidal-- is there anything more infuriating than a fake apology?), "Hungry Hungry Hippos", "Kerplunk," "Pick-Up Stick," "Snakes and Ladders", "Connect Four", "Trouble", card games like "Old Maid," "Crazy 8s," "Milles Bournes" and "Uno."
We had an Intelivision (sort of like an Atari) and an Apple IIc. I was mad about text-based adventures like Zork, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Enchanter. There were also plenty of obscure educational titles like "Lemonade Stand" where we learned the joys of supply and demand.
For outdoor games, we played Freeze Tag, TV Tag and Ghost in the Graveyard. We also had some weirdly elaborate make-believe games that required us to keep profile information written down for each of our various characters-- it was quite the soap opera. I remember the first murder, and my favourite character-- a paranoid schizophrenic I used to play who wear a boxing helmet and a life jacket and refused to come out from under the pool table.
At school there was 4-Square and a variation we made up called Scarecrow, some weird clapping games and Red Rover (until it was banned for fear of breaking our wrists.) |
