I'm sorry that happened to you, but my suggestion is to find all of your paystubs and keep them as evidence for what's to come.

By claiming such a low salary, he is also paying less for your health insurance each month and 0-30,000won a YEAR in taxes. Id call the tax office to find out exactly how much he has been paying them each month as well. Good luck!

I think they can avoid paying taxes all together. Definitely true on the health thing. If he's paying that low for your pension, he's definitely paying your health according to the same 1 million salary. That's if he hasn't gotten away with paying health at all and is pocketing all of that. Although I think you have to pay both since these offices talk to each other.

The first thing I'd do would be to bring it up to your boss NOW. I'd relish in it. "What the fk do you think you're doing?" Hind sight being what it is, you should've checked with the pension office a lot earlier. All it takes is a simple phone call. Guess you know that already. Should've, could've, would've.

Anyway, how many months has it been? I wouldn't have any qualms about calling your boss out on this. Give him *beep* for cheating you and then tell him you're going to the pension, health, and tax offices. See what he does then. Wink

What Korean immigration and tax bureaucrats should wake up and smell is the fact that no foreigner from the Anglosphere will ever EVER teach for 1 million won here (unless (s)he's an idiot). If I was an immigration or tax agent, if I saw that John Smith native speaker was getting only 1 million won while Jane Johnson and Alan Davis and every other foreign teacher on the list were each getting 2 million, I would like to think these'd be red flags as these mo-fo wanjangs are trying to cheat my gov't on taxes.

You. Pension. No. Cheat me. Bad. Pension office go.

Learn how to say "You're underpaying my pension and I'm going to report you" or something.

Sounds like whatever arsehole you reached at the pension office is washin their hands of it. THEY should call your boss and find out.

Go down to the pension office with your contract and one or more pay slips. If you don't have a pay slip, demand them of your. Shake them up where you work. This should be taken care of NOW. They're purposely fkg you out of money. It's an old trick. ALL bosses in Korea will try this. ALL. At first they get a little disappointed that when you actually check and make sure they are forwarding the money, he correct mount of money. Like you don't trust them. Oh my!!!!

Stick it to this wanker.

If you're having pension/tax/insurance/labor issues with the school, NEVER trust someone FROM the school to help you solve them. That's just a recipe for a future screwing.

Do not let him get off so easily. Ask for some more vacation, pay raise, something. He's obviously told hte pension office you were wrong. Thats why he's wiring the money to your account and not paying back pay on the pension. That money belongs in the pension office until you leave (if you are american, anyway) not in your bank account. Something fishy is still going on. Tell him you want something from him to gurantee that you don't have to call the tax, pension, and insurance offices on him.

Why is he going to wire the money to your account? Shouldn't he be paying the government or pension program?

I doubt your boss is going to give you more vacation or a pay raise, he will probably blame it on a "misunderstanding." Rolling Eyes

He's not going to give you a lump sum to make up for it. If he did then you could just forget about it. But he's not going to give you that much money. You can try, but you'll probably end up having to go to the pension office with your contract and pay slips. DON'T let them give you the run around there by telling you to deal with your boss.

It's way the fk past that!
