First i thought "hahahaa...i bet they mean sweet. Fools!!!"
I tastes like "sweat" doesn't anyone taste it? Not ass, not anything bad...but it tastes lke drinking sweat.
That said, as any put lemon juice in it? I wonder if that would neutralize the disgusting? |

I've just found the title for my new novel. "Neutralize the Disgusting." Khyber, you rock! (Now if you would kindly sign this waiver...)

I like it. It took me a while, but I figured out the flavor. It's like Fresca without the carbonation (therefore, grapefruit flavored). What I can't understand is why they have a grapefruit flavored frink when pretty much any Korean I ever met had never had a grapefruit. (I did find one in E-Mart before though...and my Pocari-sweat loving boyfriend thought that the grapefruit was nasty. Go figure!) |

A little bump to bring this fine thread up to the top.
As I sit and drink some Pocari Sweat before lunch I think:
How can anyone NOT like it...well I think it is a drink that grows on you. When I first came to Korea I couldn't stand it...but drink it a few times after doing some sports or on a hot day, and it starts to grow on ya. Now it is a must have after the gym, and since I am so bored of water...I drink it from time to time for the sweet good taste! |

I like Pocari Sweat, but I've often thought about other drinks that I say I like but really don't. It took me a couple of years to really like beer, before it became more than just something to get drunk off of (and here, that's what soju is for).
Green tea, for example: it tastes alright, but I can't figure out how anyone would want to drink it every day. Coffee is pretty much in the same category for me, except I do drink it every morning -- gets the old pipes working, if you catch me.
I used to feel the same way about whiskey until I found I really developed a liking for it. I'm the nightcap king these days.
I suppose the term "acquired taste" exists for a reason.

Yeah Pocari is an aquired taste forsure.
I think coffee and alcohol are things that become an aquired taste too.
Most beers still taste horrible to me. |

It took me about 6 months to get to like the sweat, but for a hangover cure, or a drink after a game of footy, it's unbeatable.
All hail the Sweat! |

I think it has a terrible taste. It came in useful when a Korean asked me how to say "ddam" in English. Sometimes they have no idea what the English words mean on some of their products. I said "ddam" means sweat. ......like Pocarisweat........

Don't like Pocari.
I think most Koreans know it is from Japan.
In a supermarket I once asked my Korean friend what was the oldest product in the store and she looked around a bit and then said It was Pocari Sweat. She knew it was Japanese. I said for me it was the Wrigley's Gum, American, but, what's the oldest Korean one? She said OB, but the label had changed and then she pointed me to some old soy sauce, it's yellow with red letters. She thought maybe that was the oldest product label...you guys know what I mean? |

My wife fondly remembers Doeji Bar (Pig Bar; an ice cream bar) from her youth, but she is only 24.
Me? "Have you ever gone hunting with a bowl and spoon?"
Well, have you, punk?
