I have been playing a game called Darkthrone for over a year. The game is completely out of control with cheaters and Im getting tired of it. I like the interaction in DT just not the way it is run. Has anyone played any of these games or could you recommend a good online RPG war game. And suggestions and comments would be great. I want:

Online RPG
Free
Alliance or Group based
War based

I'll post the negatoives (for my purpose) I saw about peoples recommended games here.

Minions of Mirth - As apposed to what they advertise the full game is not free to use, only the limited demo up to level 20, on the demo server with a subset of the races can be played for free. You must buy the game in order to level up to 100, multi-class and log on to the real servers.

fabar.outwar.com - (Still looking over)

travian - not group based, looks to be possible to help others in your area, but I'm looking for an alliance baed or group based game.

www.imperiumnova.com ( Looks interesting )

I'm also interested in finding a good online RPG. I hope there are a few good responses.

ATM I own a soccer team at www.hattrick.org - in my 4th or 5th season at this point. It's a very good simulation of what it's actually like to run a team, but it's a little slow and you really only need to log in twice a week. I need another online game to check daily.

I have found this game to be okay if you have friends to play it with.

"Minions of Mirth "

But you need people you know to play with. Its a difficult game to learn, but fun once you know it.

Thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot about Dark Throne when I replaced my computer months ago.
Aren't you a Dokdo Defender?

I've been playing Outwar. http://fabar.outwar.com/page/93306
Free, but possible and addicting to buy 'points' to buy items and trade with. I'm stylin' and in a Top 10 Crew. Likely I have hoarded stuff to get you started. Wink

Today was the first time I ever heard the term "RPG." I asked a student what it was, and voila it appeared on his electronic dictionary.

Give www.imperiumnova.com a shot.

Very Dune-inspired with politics, a galactic Senate, player-run religion etc. and not just military. Also since you don't have to control territory to be successful, you're not as dependent on an alliance in this game as in others.

I'm House Bogdan in Galaxy Baade.

The game has recently restarted so things are relatively fresh.

Outwar certainly isn't fast paced. But has endless individual quests right from the start.
I never enjoyed the 'discovery' aspect, but there are great sites with complete quest guides and maps.
Once you join a Crew, every crew has a hitlist where you can gain fame.
Crew adventures, where everyone gangs up on godly MOBs.
All out wars are fun, but last a day or two, so to be killa' you have to have some time on your hands.
Learn awesome skills as you level. Find/buy augments for your equipment. And 3 slots for Orbs to enhance your skills.

I've chosen to buy my stuff, but crews take care of their own, and issue it as we accumulate it.

I do hope you give it a try. Ask any questions you may have.

PS. I do have several characters by now. If you need a skill you don't have,
I can likely 'cast' it. heh.

I wouldn't mind joining a second game. What I'm looking for:
-the game is driven by player interaction and what players do can really change things.
-interesting strategic choices.
-it not be necessary to join a large alliance to survive.

Anything like that out there?

All my extreme high level characters expired, but I'm still a Diablo II fan.
Futilely awaiting DIII?

Unless you like graphics-intensive games, Outwar, mentioned above, may suit you.

This should tide you over until they release a sequel to Duke Nukem Forever.

What are you, in your sixties? RPG's have been around since the 70's.
