I have an F-2-1 visa, and wondering if it is still a requirement for the bank to ask for my contract, seeing as I don't need to be employed to be in Korea. Just wondering. |

I don't have to show anything when I go to the bank besides my ARC. |

I had everything BUT my passport and my KEB branch refused to wire money. I showed them my ARC, 3 credit cards, a couple bills with my address, Korean Driver's License and my Health Insurance.
To save yourself the headache, just take your passport. The KEB person said,
"I just need your passport. I don't need anything else." |

I believe the bank wanted a contract to prove where the money originated from.
A safe guard against laundering drug money or the like.
ps- Recently I wired money from the UK to my Korean account, and my UK bank had to ask me for approval to proceed; because all swift transactions are monitered by the US now. |

All that's needed is your passport. They'll write down how much you send out in the back of it. Then once you reach $10,000US you'll have to show proof that it's legit money, like a contract or pay stubs. |

Just have your spouse wire it out of the country. That's what I do. No passport, no questions. Very easy, |

Get your significant other send it. That's the only way that NOTHING will ever be questioned and that no limit will ever be placed on the amount you can transfer. Most bankers have no idea what they are doing as far as international money transfers go. |

If you have her do it by internet banking, it's even better... you don't even have to deal with incompetence from the branch staff. |
