there's an outbreak of conjunctivitis in my school. yesterday in homeroom the teachers emphasised the importance of washing hands. in fact, they passed out pictures illustrating how to wash hands correctly.
hopefully that's one problem solved.
the next problem is that all we have at the school is bar soap. yuck. |

Got it here too. Around 1 in 12 kids including a couple of teachers.
Can I fake it, get some time off?
Actually what pissed me off was that no one told me, I only found out from the kids. This after spending a couple of days high fiving. No more high fives from me. Of course my paranoia made my eyes itch immediately, but haven't got it, yet! |

if the students with pink eye start spreading it to others for money; dont be surprised. I think the going rate at my high school was 1000 won for pink eye. |

As a general rule, avoid putting your hands to your eyes, nose or mouth when teaching. It is through contact with mucous membranes that most germs enter our bodies. Wash your hands first, or use a clean handkerchief. |

Eww, gross. I wouldn't think of making hand-to-hand contact with any kid for any reason, outside of family maybe. |

Thankfully I'm at a high school, so the girls are a little cleaner than the average Korean elementary kid. However I have NEVER seen so much pink eye in a country as I do in Korea. You'd think they'd learn that washing your hands is important to keep these things under wraps. |

Maybe I should wear surgical gloves, a mask and goggles. |

Just don't touch kids' hands. Kids are little germ factories. Haven't you seen Bernie Mac? |

My school has got it bad.
300 out of 1600 told to stay home. The kids have been touching the eyes of a pink eye kid and touching their own to get some time off. There are these weeping pink eyed zombie kids walking around everywhere, I'm not safe, not even in my office. |
