Thanks "Billybrobby," cause I care if you think I'm full of it. Considering all the people who have come here saying the exact same thing, maybe YOU'RE the one who's full of *beep*. And in reference to your jacket joke, I've never smoked in my life, but I've had a ton of massive stoner friends. I'm quite aware of how pot smells. I also never said I smelled it "all the time," I said I've smelled it multiple times on the street(a lot more than back in school).

Just so everyone is aware: Drugs are super illegal here. This isn't Toronto or England, you can't just carry a small amount for personal use. If they catch you with drugs here, you get locked up. So it makes a TON of sense that if you're smoking, you don't tell people unless you completely trust them. I personally know a Korea or two who smokes. Much more so than in the West, you need to know the right people if you want to score anything.

Well...Toronto's not exactly the most pot-friendly city either there buddy.

This is in addition to the last 7 years, where pot has been off and on legal in Ontario.

But if you''d like a better example, change my previous examples from England and Toronto to England and Vancouver.

The fact of the matter is, even in the crazy-ass US, where we dump billions into the "war on drugs" every year, we still aren't as anti-drug crazy as Korea is. That being my previous point.

A guy I know said that he brings his weed to Korea by just sticking an ounce down the crack of his ass. I was suspicious of this claim because the new airport metal detectors can pick up a pack of cigarettes in your pocket, so a plastic baggy with an ounce inside of it seems like a lot of bulk, but I don't smoke weed so I have no idea if it's possible or not.

Still, seems like a big risk to carry it on the plane with you just to get high. Just have some beers, it's almost the same effect.

You've obviously never smoked weed before.

My husband says the weed smell is an herbal cigarette, used for quitting smoking. The first time he smelled it he almost fell over, he was SURE it was the real thing, and he hadn't had that for years. When he tracked it down, he was sorely disappointed. Trust me, he had more than enough experience in the US with the real thing to tell the difference, yet the waft of the herbal cigarettes was so close, it threw him for a moment.

Anyone else going to watch the farce on KBS tonight?

It should begin at about 11:05 tonight... "Fake Teachers and Marijuana Parties" seems to be the going title.

Should be full of all kinds of generalisations and inuendos to go along with the "hard" journalism.

For all the anti-drug stuff in Korea, I've never smelled more pot out on the street than in Korea. Even in my little neighborhood last year, I'd be walking down the street and just get a huge whiff of it from some undisclosed location. Even in my little college town, I never smelled that much pot just walking down the street. Granted that's probably because cops in America actually know what it smells like...

It could be a few things, accupuncture clinics burn some form of herb that smells incredibly like ganja, they burn alot of it, but I haven't asked exactly what it is yet. Some cigarettes also smell like that apparently, but I have yet to buy them, but I've seen people smoke them, and they smell like weed. And then of course it could be some Korean who is actually smoking weed. I saw a guy hanging outside the subway on a busy day just blazing one. At first I thought it was one of those cigarettes, but it smelled way too strong, so I stopped had a closer look, and he had himself a pretty nice little spliff. We shared a grin, and then I buggered off to try and find some for myself!!!!!! Smoked a bunch of pot with my round eyed friends and watched the Korean movie "Mapa-do" where some crazy old ajumas where growing and smoking tons of pot on some remote island!!!!!

I don't know why the Korean are so uptight about pot, it used to be pretty natural here (not like India or Nepal, but wild, free, and medicinal). I'm sure Koreans used to use it for medicinal purposes, and once their kids got married they could smoke as much as they liked (just as in Nepal....ahh sweet stoned old age in Nepal) until some uptight missionary with the bible under one arm and the word sin on his lips screwed this place up for the rest of us!!! Probably worked his ass off to make it illegal, bet he's mighty proud of just how anal the Koreans have become, bet he never wants to go back to his homeland in Canada or the US. Those horrible places where sin is rampant.....but here in Korea he feels great, with his blinders on, and his faith intact......

No drugs, no guns, no theft or corruption, no prostitution...........hooray!!!!

hey there has been a far more important topic in the news lately. You should all be very concerned!!! Apparently prostitution is a problem!!! Yep, I saw it on the news, they said it, Korea has a problem, it's called prostitution.......
those poor male prostitutes being taken advantage of by rich ajumas whose husbands work so hard, are never home.......because they are out at all those important meetings, working so late. They work so hard and feel so much stress.........

shame on Korean women for all your whoring!!!!!!

You know historically Korean women could only marry once!!! If the husband died, toooooo bad sister. If the husbad took another wife, toooo bad, if he just went down to the local coffee shop and had a REAL expensive instant coffee with a hot young Da-bang girl who just happened to be wriggling in his lap, tooo bad sister. It's really the fault of Western media that's corrupting Korean women, and of course those horrible English teachers!!! You should all be ashamed of yourselves, you're destroying a perfect little country that was once free from drugs, prostitution, imoral sex, gambling and sin!!!!

Shame on you for corrupting Korea!!

when will a president get into office and say" the war on drugs is impossible to WIN!!! it costs far to much money and it can never be won!
we are legalizing weed from today! smoke up bros!!!

IT can never be won!!! if you cant beat them JOIN THEM!!!

its time the governments cashed on this business!!
start to manufacture excasty, coke, speed, and grow weed!!!
get the crap off the streets!! if people want to buy drugs they will need a prescription from a doctor saying they are healthy etc.. and let them party! it still comes down to freedom of choice! people are going to do drugs without the governments authority anyway.. so why not make sure the drugs are good!!

the war on drugs is a joke!! its time the world woke up !!!
