1) You haven't read any of what they have written at all. None of it. Not a single page. |
Can you prove that?
Its pretty clear you're ignorant of theology and don't have the intellectual patience for it. Hitchens and Hawkins have corrupted you. At least when it comes to theology, Sam Harris tries.

2) You're in the "why they/we believe" camp, which is a totally irrelevant argument to the "is it true" discussion we have been having. I don't give two craps about why they believe. I care about keeping the rejects and their reject ideas out of public policy. |
The "is it true" discussion cannot be resolved and you know it. All you can do is resort to analogy and compare a belief in God to a belief in an "imaginary friend."

I had to school you on Nietzsche before. I tried presenting to you Kant's antinomies. But it appears that you don't have any patience in reading something serioiusly that wasn't published in your lifetime. |

Yes, all these philosophers who wrote before humanity understood the germ theory of disease.. If not totally irrelevant to the modern context, darn close.
Unfortunately, I'm quite informed about this whole silly debate. I wish I weren't so. I could fill the hard drive space with useful stuff like math, rather than the ideas that ignorant (not of their doing) men long dead though about the origins of the cosmos.
How did you "school" me at Nietzsche? Here is the link.

I characterized Nietzsche as having described Christianity as a slave ideology. He did. And you went off on a rant that was basically "look what I know" but irreverent. |

Right, right. This is my point. You live in a narrow period and judge other periods harshly for not being as far along in the science of how to work TVs and how to perform brain surgery. You wouldn't recognize the knowledge that has been lost, or more importantly, the values that have lapsed. So, it goes without saying that you could not be in any proper position to judge these values, being ignorant of them.
Although, you will quote-mine from Nieztsche.

Yes, but Nietzsche celebrated the rise of the slave morality insofar as it was a re-valuation of new values. You can verify in the link that I'm not BSing because DDeubel mocks you for missing that before I even get a chance to respond. Yes, he considered Christianity a slave morality, but you should see how Nietzsche characterized contemporary atheism.
I think this thread has gone quite long enough, and I want to end your humiliation here. So I'll compare what you're doing with what the Nazis did, ignorant of the fact that Nieztsche thought not so highly neither of your type of atheism nor of anti-Semites.
Yeah, I made the Nazi comparison. We can shut the thread down now. |

| So, the whole bible must be thrown out then eh? Christianity, minus Christ, taken down to 3 or 4 godless commandments. |
Don't know where you're getting that from. Anyway I agree with Kuros. This thread has gone on long enough....and WAY OFF topic. |
