Made an outstanding pizza for my girlfriend's brother to try. Extra cheese, fresh sauce, a very thin layer of garlic infused pesto on the crust, some spices and a hint of black pepper, Roma tomatoes, some chopped pieces of expensive and thick bacon, a few olives...it was a masterpiece, really.
We sat down with this fine specimen of simple culinary art, and prepared to indulge.
Then, he smothered it with ketchup... |

So wait, you made this glorious pizza, then served it with ketchup present on the table?
Also, how old is your GF's brother? I've never heard of or seen Koreans putting ketchup on pizza. If they did, why are there no bottles of ketchup served with the pizza in the pizza joints here? |

I seen Korean teachers doing this at work several times. While I would never say anything, I am sure it is not anymore delicious with ketchup and is probably downright nasty. |

I refuse to believe it. I've seen hot Vietnamese chicks douse french fries with sugar, but I will never believe that Koreans put pizza on ketchup, unless they are like 12 year olds or something. |

Damn, I forgot about this one....and yes some do it. Some places even use ketchup to make the sauce. And no, I didn't put ketchup on the table. He went to the refrigerator to get it. |

Ketchup on pizza... ha ha... that's funny. I've lived in other countries where ketchup was served with the pizza because that's just how everyone ate it.... no sauce, just the red runny stuff. I could never get used to it, but my friends all liked it. Didn't think to encounter that here in the developed world, though.
Sorry you were offended, djsmnc. Your pizza does sound delicious. Makes me wonder how many times I've offended my Korean friends at the meal table. |

I was once thrown for a loop when a Quebecois friend of mine asked me where the butter was when we were out at a pizza joint. I was like WTF? He then started lathering up his pizza crust with butter. Makes perfect sense but I had just never seen it before. I am now a convert though (when I can't get those dipping sauces some places provide for your pizza crusts). |

I think the real question is - when will you make that glorious pizza for people who can appreciate it?
My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
I'm sorry for your loss. Truly. |
