All right - so the company has this silly mountain climbing MT day tomorrow, and being hugely preggo has got me out of it. Nobody's going to make me go on an overnight mountain climbing trip. Yay!

So since hubby and I practically never go anywhere, and since I need driving practice, we were thinking of going outside of Seoul. We're in East Seoul, so driving a maximum of about 2 hours east would be good. SE is okay too, but we'd like to just get the hell out of the city.

It's also not a bad idea to not stray TOO far from Seoul, so we can head back easily should I have any health issues requiring dropping by the hospital.

We'd like to get on the road tomorrow morning, find a nice view, chill for a few hours, eat a fantastic dinner, and then enjoy the romance of a cheesy 2-star love hotel somewhere. Back to Seoul sometime Saturday to take care of the normal weekend crap that seems to pile up...

Any recommendations for a nice place to go? A great restaurant? Cute little town? Not too far away?

The clock is ticking... Without a plan, hubby just wants to hop in the Atoz and drive drive drive.. Me, I'm a planner. I like maps. If I have a convincing sounding itinerary, he'll go my way. Help me out!

Yangyang is 3.5 hours from Seoul by car on the expressway... unless there's traffic (which happens alot).

Is the pension right on the beach, if so can you give me the information. I'm planning to take my wife up that way in a couple of weeks. If you like PM me.

We've slept in, hubby has about an hour of work to do, and we'll be on the road by ten or so. I guess the plan is just driving "East". No way will we make it all the way to the coast, so maybe we'll make it as far as chuncheon?

Yes, it's right on the beach. You face the beach, you can open the windows and hear the waves crashing on the sand...paradise in korea.

Here's the pension website pictures section...

GOD THAT PLACE WAS GREAT!!!

No people whatsoever, PERFECT weather! I saw less than 50 people all weekend! And most of them were in town!

What a time, bbq, drinks, great weather, swimming, SOLITUDE!!

Best time I've had in a long time. I can't believe we had that whole beach to ourselves.

Where do I go to....

TO YOUR DOOM... judging from my own personal experiences with Korean traffic.

Joking aside, I've heard that you can actually "drive" to Jeju--- when you get to the tip of the peninsula, you can pay a ferry to take your car to the island, then road trip there all day. That's assuming you also have Saturday off, definitely not a one-day endeavor.

Pest2. driving wasn't a pain because we left Seoul very early in the morning and encountered little traffic. On the way back, we got on the highway about 11AM and beat the Sunday afternoon rush back to Seoul. Light traffic and easy riding all the way back. Very Happy

Yeah, theres a sheep farm (that's been heavily advertised and can be crowded so watch out) about 30 - 45 minutes before you hit the coast. You can see signs from the freeway.
