Just a quick question to ask if anyone who is going to the GEPIK Orientation next week has got information from their school about it ... I have been told by my school I am going ... but that is all I have been told ... and they are saying they have no more information ... If you have more information can you tell me where you got it from so I can get them to follow up on that urgently for me ...

If you have not heard anything yet also can you please let me know as well.

PM if you don't want to post on the list I just really need to know ASAP. Very interested in avoiding a stuff up like the last time.

I haven't gotten anything either. The Korean teacher says that she hasn't recieved any messages from the Education Board. Since it's Thursday afternoon, I'm assuming that it's not happening...... again.

I'm not really surprised and I knew something like this was going to happen considering its history so I've already made lesson plans.

If you haven't heard anything it most likely means it is happening...

I was told last week I would have to go, and that was the last I heard of it. When I asked for the specifics, no one knew what I was talking about. It won't break my heart if I don't have to go, but it would be nice to know one way or the other.

My Co-teacher has just spoken to the GEPIK supervisor and told me that he said that the orientation has been postponed one week and that information about it would come out later next week ...

Can anyone else confirm for me whether they have heard this as well? Or can get it confirmed ...

After last time nothing would suprise me ... but then last time they told us that it had been cancelled altogether with less than 24 hours notice when it was only cancelled for people in a couple of cities ...

My CT has told me it's been postponed for at least a week, and will probably be the week starting the 17th.

I hope it's cancelled. The idea of sharing a hotel room with 4 strangers (and probably 4 snoring non-smokers at that) doesn't appeal.

At this point in time there are several groups of people I have heard from:

Those who have been given details for an orientation next week
Those who have heard nothing
Those who have been told usually only when their CT has phoned the office and asked about it that it is postponed for a week.

So all that we know for certain is that one of those is the correct answer ... and maybe more than one is true .....

I am interested in finding out tonight ... which cities people who have been given details for next week are from ... and who has been told they are going but have not been told anything else ... or have been told it is postponed ... where they are from ...

So if you are in one of those groups ... please let me know your city ... I will keep you informed ... PM is ok ...

I was told it starts on the 17th. Looks like it lasts five days even though my Korean teacher says it should only last 2.

Who really knows? I just "work" here.

I was told yesterday that there would be a (one!!!) bus waiting at a tube station in Suwon (haven't decyphered the hanguel Yet) at 10:30 on Monday 17th. this bus will ferry all teachers to the La Vie D'or resort for lunchtime. And it is all happening near the Suwon Science University. Sharing rooms with strangers is definitely going on. I will probably be sleeping in my car. Don't knock if there are steamy windows.

As far as I'm aware there are two orientations being held by GEPIK. The elementary orientation is taking place next week and the Secondary one taking place the week after. from the looks of it, not many people are gonna turn up are they??

I'm copying and pasting an email I've got from Gepik. I was wondering what I should bring besides clothes and personal grooming items. Like, would it be safe to bring a laptop?

Dear all new GEPIK teachers!

How are you all?
How's the school and everything? Smile

I am the GEPIK Coordinator who you will be in contact with alot when you have problems or need someone to talk to. Also letting you know you are in my mailing list so you will get office updates, GEPIK updates or any updates that you may need to know. So could you let me know if you know any new teachers who did not get this email from me? thanks!

Today, I would like to announce about the orientation.

There will be two orientations,
one for Elementary school teachers from 10th/Sept to 14th/Sept
other for Middle/high school teachers from 17th/Sept to 21st/Sept

The location will be held at La'Vidor Resort in Hwasung City.

You will get this information when your school get an official confirmation letter from our office.

Hope to see you all there!
Until then, enjoy!!
