I just got through watching all 4 seasons of Enterprise and was (a little) impressed. I can see why it didn't last (far too slow), but I really enjoyed the characters.
It got me thinking though...
Who was the best Captain?

You're in for it now. Forgetting the black and woman captain for the three white guys. You deserve all the crap you will get. While you can get away with Sisko as he wasn't really a captain of a ship, there was no reason to leave Janeway out. You're dead.  |

Um, did any of them captina the Enterprise? (honestly, I don't know. I thought that these were the only guys who have - but then again, I've been away from American TV for quite a while). |

aaahhhh! what a question!
Kirk is an all-American cowboy. all about kicking ass and taking names. Picard is a philosopher and a diplomat. Kirk escaped from the Klingon prison camp and saved the galaxy from the likes of General Chang, the Shakespeare-quoting renegade.
and let's not forget Kirk is probably the only captain who ever boned a hot Romulan woman starship commander.
but Picard...well, damn, he's Picard. he beat the Borg, for crying out loud.
my vote goes to Picard. he's smarter than Kirk and lives in a more complicated time. people might think Kirk has more balls, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, Picard has cajones the size of the Enterprise-D. and if we are going to bring who-boned-who into the equation, Picard had a thing with Dr. Crusher...that makes him the only captain i know of who could handle a redhead!
Archer? Who is Archer?
Hmm, what about Janeway or Sisko? |

| Tough call but Picard gets my vote. He saved humanity on more than one occasion. Kirk was just a tough buffoon, which is what was required of captains during his time. Jesus Christ I need to get laid. |

Not bad for a Canadian.
Kirk and Picard is a tough choice and I could swing either way depending on my mood. It's impossible for me to choose.
So as to not leave you hanging, Captain Corea, I was also impressed with the characters on Enterprise. That show did a lot of things right, despite its mistakes. The ship felt a lot more real to me than the other ships from the TV shows. I was really disappointed they didn't do enough with the Columbia. Archer was well cast and an interesting character, but I don't think he ever really came into his own. For seasons 3 and 4 he was trying to be George Bush in space. But Trip was the best chief engineer character of all the series. The show tried hard to develop friendships among the main characters similar to how the original series has the Kirk-Spock-McCoy trifecta. |

Never watched Enterprise so I won't even rank Archer....
I'd rank them as:
1. Picard: He was Borg and he kicked Borg Ass
2. Kirk: Class quintessential badass...
3. Sisko (Or is it Sisco?): That show was just plain nutty. But he always steered them to safety even with that crazy wormhole and entities and God-like aliens....
4. Janeway: We're lost. Yup...we're lost. And we're lost. and we're lost. (I didn't see the rest of series, so I bet things did improve overtime....) |

Actually, not bad for a Canadian to play a fictional future IOWAN, born and bred right in Riverside, Iowa, with a memorial plaque in the town park to prove it. (The reality series he shot there bombed. Big time.)
But all of this is beside the point.
