I need to know how to extend a tourist visa. I know that this can be done, but I need to know how and where to go. I am Canadian so we get 6 months, need another months extention.
live in Ilsan so any help on where to go in that area would be great!
also,
the search feature on Daves really sucks. I type "extending a tourist visa" and I get over 13000 hits... |

Do you have an actual tourist visa or just a B2 visa waiver stamp?
If you are on a B2, the easiest solution is to grab a cheap flight or ferry to anywhere and return - same day - same plane/boat is fine.
You can also ATTEMPT to get an extension at your local immigration office but don''t count on it.
Americans can extend their 30 day stamp by paying for a 90 day tourist visa but to the best of my knowledge, Canadians on a 6 month stamp USUALLY CANNOT extend a 6 month waiver stamp because they cannot justify the " Document or statement to prove the inevitable reason to stay".
Immigration offices and locations are listed on their webpage:
http://www.immigration.go.kr/
You may also find them listed on the http://www.g4f.go.kr website.

Argh. Wish I knew I could get an extension instead of dropping the dough to fly to Japan. Not that I mind being in Japan, but still... |
