Drugs are illegal.

They got arrested.

No sympathy here whatsoever.

You play...you pay.

Yes many of these drugs are no more harmless than alcohol but THEY ARE ILLEGAL. WHAT PART OF THAT DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND. It simply is not like jaywalking or speeding.

You get jail time and now this will show up anytime you apply for a VISA to a foreign country.

MORONS...If you are stupid enough to get caught with drugs in a foreign country that is not all that hospitable towards foreigners in general then tough. You did the crime now you get to to do the time.

They are were in the wrong and they dug their own grave. There is nothing the teachers can do. I wonder if the hagwon owners were aware of these activities though? In my opinion, it isn't hard to determine whether or not someone is under the influence of drugs. People talk in the workplace and there are rats that usually convey information to the boss. Information slips out when people are drunk at parties. The boss usually hears about the said information. If employee "A" has an axe to grind with employee "B", then employee "A" often informs the boss of employee "B's" activities. If the hagwon owner was aware of this, which I suspect that was the case, then wouldn't it make sense to hold the owner accountable under Korean Law? After all, therein lies a good case for the hagwon owner putting the kids safety in jeopardy.

The police police recommended that Immigration require a medical exam and drug screen for visa applicants which is standard in many countries for work visas. Good idea.

It amazes me that this happens. I mean the first rule of thumb when moving abroad is don't break the laws in a foreign country....man....

These clowns surely are in a pile of dung that they shoveled themselves...

As for the drug tests. Thats a touchy issue. I am not for universal drug screening for teachers here but I am in favor of it for teachers who will be teaching children.

This goes hand in hand with requiring criminal records check.

Sadly, the behaviour of a few idiots has a larger impact as it always does.....

This is the sort of thing that fuels all those "investigative reports" about the underbelly of the foreign lifestyle in Korea.
And it only strengthens Koreans' view that foreigners are nothing more than child-molesting, womanizing, drug-using frauds that only come to Korea because they can't get any other job in their own country other than at Burger King or Walmart (that was added in only recently by a Gyopo).......... , I said all that in one paragraph????

I know and we all know thats not true, but things like this is what gives the foreign community a bad name....

And yeah, marajuana is tested because in Korea, it s not seen as a recreational drug as in the west.....
