Okay, which movie's your favourite?
I have to say VI because it just has the most going for it. |
I actually don't have a favorite. I haven't really seen any. I think I saw one in the theaters and one on tv. I think the one I saw was with Khan but it was a long time ago....That reminds me of what I need to catch up on when I get back to the U.S. of A |

| Best Trek movie? That would be a tossup between II: The Wrath of Khan (Shatner at his most-dramatic: KHAAAAAN!, not to mention Mr. Roarke from Fantasy Island) and Nemesis, which was the best of the TNG crew. First Contact woulda won but there's too much (ahem) unbelievable stuff there. "Mr. Data set a course for the 24th century." That's it? How the hell did they do that? Did the Enterprise really have a time-shifting device on board? If so... |

I'd have to say Nemesis was a little harder to swallow for me than First Contact. For First Contact you pretty well just have to get past the time travel thing which isn't a big leap. Nemesis just seemed random and in-your-face. It was more a case of missed opportunities to me.
In hindsight I actually like Insurrection fairly well. It was more like an episode and had good bits with all the cast members. |

| Bill Shatner is my favorite actor--TJ Hooker and Boston Legal are great shows, thanks to him. But as far as captains go...Picard. Who survives in "Generations??" |

Careful, you're likely to get someone arrested talking like that. |

There are many mentally unstable druggies on Daves ESL Cafe. Some of them even said Captain Kirk is not the best Enterprise captain. Do not let these sick people teach anyone in Korea. Go find them, put them in jail, kick them out of the country. These people are dangerous. Please do something on behalf of Korean people. This thread is extremely offensive, racist. Isnt it illegal in Korea?
The SMPA got to do something about it.

Kirk was zany, kitsch, hammy and refreshingly un-PC........so yeah....a great character.......but if you're in any way a sci-fi fan then you will pretty easily see that The Next Generation was better made, smarter (more 'science') and more thought provoking. I think a vote for Kirk is an ironic vote for the kitsch and cheesiness which we all enjoyed about the original series....................
..............so my vote goes to Picard because I'm a bit more serious about my sci-fi. |

Next Generation was smarter but it was a relatively PC show in a PC era. The original series was groundbreaking for its time. |

Wouldn't you say it was a PC show? I don't mean it as an insult as all its messages of racial equality, acceptance of disabilities, feminism, abandonment of greed, money, and capitalism, changing of mission from military to exploration and including families on board, and addition of Worf, who in the original series would have been an enemy, are all bad things. Just that it was much more a product of the time, while the original series was ahead of its time. I mean which was more shocking, Kirk kissing Uhura or Riker falling for an alien hermaphrodite (or whatever it was)? |

The reason I asked is because I never thought of the show in terms of its PC level. It was just a fun show to watch. Uhura and Kirk...I wasn't alive when that aired so perhaps I lack the appropriate context to be shocked by it? How do I explain..? Not everything can be ground breaking, I guess.
Damn it, now you've gone and confused me |
