Has to be one of the best desserts they have in Korea. I know a lot of waegukins happen to dislike the infamous "red bean," but I really don't think it's that bad (maybe it has to be in season).

Anyway - for those who like it - do you know of a good place to get it? I'm not talking about a Lotteria or a Paris Baguette - I don't want franchised patbingsu. I want some good patbingsu....the kind they make fresh and put lots of toppings on it. I'm going to Seoul this weekend so anywhere around Gangnam, Hongdae, Itaewon is good, but I'll go out of my way for the good stuff.

Okay...from Ewha University Station, head towards the main gate, stay on the right side of the street. Past Starbucks, Coldstone, etc, you'll see a Wetzel's Pretzels/Subway Sandwich shop. Turn right down that alley.

In the building on your right, pretty much above the convenience store, there's a mom and pop restaurant there that serves up a WICKED fresh watermelon bingsu, as well as traditional Korean snacks. Tops anything I've tried elsewhere, and I know patbingsu is on the menu. Never tried it, but if it's anywhere as good as the watermelon stuff, you'll love it.

One last bump - anyone know any good places in or near Gangnam? Anywhere is good....that's the most convenient for me, though.

There's a shaved ice franchise called "CanMore" that has decent shaved ice with fruit toppings. Have you been there?

That's certainly an option. Seen shaved ice sets at the supermarket. Red bean and mini mochi balls are cheap and you got lots of it too.

Add a little makkeoli, Kahlua, or Bailey's and you'll be good to go.

That's a very good idea. I might just get my own shaved ice thingy and start making my own, I'm addicted to it.

I've never been to "CanMore" but I'll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for the recommendation.
