What do you guys do for drinking water? I brought a brita filter with the intent to boil and then filter, but I hear that isn't enough to make the tap water safe.

I've been boiling water for drinking and washing fruits/veggies for months. So far I'm fine. If you're worried google WHO guidelines on making questionable drinking water safe.

I swear this question comes up every month.

Water is so cheap here, don't risk drinking tap water. There are heavy metals in the tap water and other chemicals that i'm just not willing to risk, even after boiling, filtering, etc.. There are some things only reverse osmosis can take care of.

You can get 6x2 liter bottles for under 4,000. Or have a 18.9 liter jug delivered to your door for 5,000.

Do the hot/cold dispenser machines you see everywhere have filters that need to be changed?

My school has a water dispenser. I have a 1 liter bottle i bring everywhere. You can also get water from the spa, the gym, restaurants. Even though water is so cheap, I have refused to pay for it.

I have a water filtering machine in my house, I pay about $30 a month for it. It's top of the line (most expensive one available, six separate filters). Had my girlfriend call and hook it up for me. Only downside is I had to sign a contract for a year (I hate how they make you do that for almost everything in Korea). The come and change the filters every three months for free.
I figure $30 is about what I'd spend a month in water if I were buying it at the store anyway, and this way I don't have the hassle of waking up with a hangover and no cold water in the house.

The notion that the cheap bottles of water are not also at least partly tap water requires a leap of faith, IMO.
