As I said, I work for a private uni in Seoul. I'd like to know how I go about getting my pension back. I could ask the secretaries but they get edgy very easily. Thanks.

This is the private University pension program, and not the national pension program, yes?

Last time I changed Unis, I had to fill out some paperwork and the department admin took care of the rest. It took 6 weeks. Sorry, I know that's not much help.

Yes, I believe it is the private plan. What I'd really like to know is: can I get it back by myself without going through the school? Say, if I were to just no be there one day. Anyone, else? Thanks, Paji.

Bottom line, somewhere in the process you are going to end up having to communicate with your school - and it is, as you are probably aware, usually the secretaries or assistants who end up taking care of these things.

Well, you probably can't expect a whole lot of cooperation in that case.

I worked for a private university and got my pension with no problem - but there were a few small hitches that required the student assistant at the main office to sort out.

Tis a good reason for always smoothing the feathers of secretarial and assistant-type staff . . .

you cant get your money out while you are still working. univ submits the paperwork to the pension office and sometimes you got to prove you are leaving the country for good.

i was able to get mine out the last time i changed jobs. however a collegue who went from one private univ to another at the end of her contract was unable to get hers, they transferred the acct to her new univ
